WTF, Service King are you kidding me?
Had a minor fender bender about 2 weeks ago. Actually my father backed into my Z with his Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. Very minor, left some scuff marks on the bumper and few hairline cracks. It also put a 6 inch long crease in the hood and scratched the paint. I took it to Service King to get this fixed after getting many numerous quotes. I tell the service guy that I want the hood fixed, repainted and the bumper repainted. Their quote was right along the lines that every other bodyshop had given me. I thought $1k was a bit much to repair the very minor damage to the bumper, hood, and have them repainted.
One week later today, I go to pick my car up. I inspect the work using my super **** glasses. Looks good at first but then I see nice paint chip, and you can just barely see some urathane showing located right in the lower corner left where the bumper and grille meet. I also see a tiny rice sized paint bubble around the same area. I'm thinking, what a shotty job. The service guy explains to me that those parts were never touched or repainted, only the damaged portion of the bumper had been painted.
I'm thinking, wtf, are you kidding me? So they only did a touch up paint job on the bumper? Is this standard practice by body shops to only repaint the portions of the bumper that need to be painted? I told the original service guy that I wanted the bumper repainted. I'm not sure if I used words like whole, or entire bumper but if someone were to tell me that they wanted the bumper repainted, I would assume he meant the whole damn thing! Plus with the price that got quoted, I assumed it they were gonna sand whole thing down and repaint the entire bumper from scratch. Is this unreasonable? Needless to say, I left the car there to have them fix these issues. Sigh, I really could use some input guys. Not sure if was expecting too much or if they are jerking me around.

if they only touched it up, youll see a difference in the paint, even the way it feels. your getting ripped, big time. for 1 grand, they should have done the entire bumper. do yourself a favor and dont pay more $$ if they ask

just sent a long email to the service king manager. i explained everything i could. what was funny was the service tech helping today kept asking if i requested the "whole" or "entire" bumper painted. I'm like, dood, I asked for THE BUMPER to be REPAINTED. I guess when I go to get my new spoiler painted. I better tell them specifically that I want the whole, entire, 100%, every square inch painted.
