Default My Z got broken into...

I was seeing a movie with my girl last night... and I take my usual precautions to park as far away as possible. 2 boring hours later (bad movie) I come out to see that all my windows are down, theres a huge mess, and my driver's side door handle has been popped out. They must've wanted her bag, as that was the only thing of value in clear sight... luckily she had all her important belongings with her, she only lost her makeup, a pair of glasses and a sweater. I lost a few burned CDs and a pair of PIAA wedge bulbs. There was paint damage (not too bad, touchup paint would fix it easily), so I was like, OK thats not too bad... Only to find out that my windows would roll down automatically when the car was shut off... I was like OK this sucks, and it didn't help matters that it was going to rain in the morning (NYC), I had to disconnect the negative battery terminal, while holding in that window-sealing button on the inside so that the windows would stay up... Today I went to my mechanic, who worked dilligently on the matter, managing to fix and align the door handle back into place... the windows don't roll down, the lock works, but there is the paint damage that I'll have to touch up later on. Considering he worked on it for free, it was a good job... door handle is slightly out of alignment, but unnoticable to the naked eye. Sigh, I hate human beings.

Default I feel your pain...

Been there, man. Sorry about that. I know how it feels.

When they broke into my car (not the Z, before) they made $300 damage and stole a $100 radio... Next time I would just leave the windows down for them... idiots!

Whats worse is that feeling you have now for a while every time you walk away from it...

Shields!! We need somebody to develop shields (and phasers) for our Zs...

Hey, have you seen this security system they install in armored cars? A flame thrower activates on the intruder. Now that a deterant!!

Same exact thing happened to me about two weeks ago in whitestone, I also had the same problem with the windows..They had to replace the handle, I just had the Viper 790 xv installed this should provide some added protection...

Sorry to hear about your loss.
I don't park far away! It's safer to park toward the front in a well lit and traveled area. I also try to find a large spot or a corner spot to avoid dings. This way I can accomplish two goals.

I totally agree with u INTREPID. People park your cars as close as possible to wherever u are. Parking your expensive automobile as far as possible only encourages ppl like that to mess with ur car because their's no witnessess to see anything.

Park in a well lighted area where theirs people around. Yes u might have to deal with some finger prints on your car, but its alot better then some jealous punk fuking w/ ur ride.

Doesn't really matter where you park. I had my Miata broken into which was parked directly opposite the main staff entrance where people are coming and going 24 hours a day. I have a monitored system so I was at the car in under a minute but they were long gone. Didn't get anything as I never leave anything in the car but they cut the roof to get in. If the morons had taken a second they would've found the doors weren't even locked.

Just try not to worry about the scum out there and enjoy yourself.

Man that sucks! Where did you park? Did the alarm go on? Someone tried to wedge my door handle too but was unsuccessful. I have a after market alarm which is sensitive.

Are you saying all that has to be done is pry the drivers door handle and you gain entry? Please say it aint so.

I think the windows roll down. This feature sucks. Anyway I would never leave valuables in my car. Thats why i didnt tint the windows so they could see everything inside!

anyhow, good luck with fixing the rest of the car.

Doesn't your insurance cover this for you? Maybe you didn't want to turn it in to keep your rates down?

Is this the (secret) way to gain entry that someone previously posted? Remember someone said that they had their Z broken into and they were in contact with Nissan to have it addressed. Everyone was giving the guy a hard time and calling BS since he wouldn't say exactly how they got in.

Finally, could you clarify what you mean when you say that the windows roll down? Do you mean that when you pry the door handle, the windows roll down??? That would be a major screw up by the Nissan engineers if it is so!

There is a switch in the lock that allows the windows to be rolled down if you turn the key to unlock for 1 sec. This is probably what is happening here. I believe it is a security risk. They should have left the damn window function on the remote only. WHO I ask WHO uses the damn key anymore?!?

This might be disabled by opening the driver's side door panel and unplugging the door key cylinder switch. This would prevent the windows from being controlled by the lock, but it would also prevent the alarm from being disarmed by the lock. You would need to always use the remote. Note: I have not tested this yet. If anyone checks this out, let us know.

You gotta be nuts to park your car at the whitestone cinema anyway they steal cars out of there on flatbeds nightly. Everyone knows you're gone for 2 hours when you park.

When my car was broken into, the door handle was popped out, for some reason this caused both windows to roll down..You can roll the window up again but when you take the key out of the ignition both windwos automatically roll down.. After having the Viper 790Xv installed this feature with the window rolldown is now disabled on my car..
