I think it's around a 18% loss. If you figure there was a 19.6% loss to an engine rated at 287 crank hp, then it would put down 230.748 whp. A 17% loss would equate to around 238.21 whp. Stock Zs usually dyno somewhere in between the two.

Ok thanks alot Blurr. im just wondering how i dyno'd high #'s. i have a bolt on Turbonetics kit and i landed 398RWHP and 406TQ. And my friend hit 231WHP and 242TQ. on his stock Z. Turbonetics says i should have 380WHP on a great day. where am i getting this extra 18WHP from?? not that im complaining.. just curious.

What other mods are you running? Did you spray your intercooler on the dyno? Im assuming you're still using the TN reflash as well, so unless you have a good deal of "breathing" mods, 398 does sound really high. What kind of dyno was it?

BTW, do you spray your intercooler much? With the TN kit having the air filter so close to the intercooler would make me paranoid that some of the N2O would get sucked in and make the car run dangerously lean.

Also depends on what dyno you are using. Some run higher, some run lower

i dont know what kind of dyno it was, but my friend Erics #'s seemed acurate. and yes i sprayed my IC but ive heard it doesn't do very much for my WHP. Also doesn't exhaust make ur car run a little more lean?? cause im running a little bit rich, maybe it will help out and yeah i have the TN reflash..

Drivetrain loss depends on if you have a manual or automatic transmission. Typically a manual has 15% loss and an automatic has 20% -- rough numbers.

Actually there was an article in import tuner or some other magazine that came out last summer with a guy having a Vortech on a G35C, and after adding an IC sprayer he gained something like 50WHP. I mean that is pretty significant, but it could explain why you gained about 20. Just a thought.

according to motortrend, most modern 6speed manuals with an independent rear end lose about 14-15%, but I find it hard to beleive because of the dyno numbers with the Z. They were dynoing the new z06, viper, and ford gt. It was the Dec 05 issue. BTW the gt made 535 rwhp.and a 2.7% loss (can you say underrated??)
