Default Zs door lock latency sux ballz

after owning the z for 2 years, still can't get used to the damn latency.. my passengers never fails to elbow-push like 5 times, overlapping with me trying to unlock it 8 times. i have a 05.. was this ever fixed in 06 or they never saw this as an issue?

Same problem with every auto-locking car ever made. But if it makes you feel better, I still can't figure out which way to push the damned button to unlock the doors.

Nissan z's got a very slow locking mechanism, compared to other cars. I've never experienced this with any cars other than the z. Mainly, right when you shut off the motor. You have to sit there for like 3 seconds, before you can open it.

I live near Detroit and have always manually locked/unlocked my doors.. I never noticed this. I assume the doors are supposed to unlock automatically after you shut the car off?

I never want to be stopped at a light on 8 mile with my doors unlocked.

I'm not sure if my 04.5 have the same problem. Do you mean if you pull the door handle and unlock it at the same time the lock wins and the door remains locked? Then the passenger will try to open the door with the unlock and you have to hit the lock and unlock. But then they fidget with it and you lock and unlock then it opens. I never had this problem with any other cars but I can live with it.

yes. I wonder if it's just mine, that's really bad. All my cars I owned, I'm able to get out, right after I shut my motor off with no prob.. just the z..

My '03 is pretty quick about it, though I usually don't lock the doors while driving the car. Do they auto-lock now? I hate cars that do that.

I really don't understand the problem you're having. Do you lock your doors after you get into your Z? The very few times I've locked my doors after I started my engine, when it was time to get out it wouldn't open. I had to manually unlock it.

Never noticed it, then again I always drive around with the top down so it doesnt make much sense to lock the doors anyways..

when your start the motor, it autolocks, when you shut off the motor, it auto-unlocks. it's the speed of this auto unlock that I'm having an issue with.. very bizarre that none of you notice it.

I have noticed that if someone pulls the passenger door handle while I'm pressing the driver-side button, the passenger locking mechanism gets stuck half-way (i.e. the passenger button moves half-way). The passenger door remains locked; however, pressing the driver-side UNLOCK does not work. I first must press LOCK, then UNLOCK in order to unstick the mechanism.

Ah, that's where I was off. My vehicle doesn't auto-lock on ignition, and thus doesn't auto-unlock. I still don't know which way to push the button though.

Carry On.

My 04.5 auto locks but does not auto unlock. This is not stock however, I have a KP Technology window box in the car.

The reason I like my trunk locked is so some looser looking for trouble can't pop the trunk while I am waiting at a light or something.

The locks and lock buttons have never been an issue.
