Default Paddle Shifters

Looks like the new 2007 G35 sedan (sport edition) will get paddle shifters with its automatic... Odds are the next 350z will also get this..

If it ends up being pretty precise on the shifting it might tempt me to go with an automatic next time around...

idunno man, I'm imagining something similar to the IS350 paddle system, which isn't horrible, but its definately not immediate or seamless. unless they had something like a DSG trans (which would be big bucks) then I'll still to rowing my gears.

Z is the 2nd auto that I've ever owned. It's definitely not precise as the manuals, but pretty damn good, if you ask me. I do miss manuals, but when I'm sitting in traffic for 2 hours, it's all good. next gen will be even better, I'm sure.

Heck look no further then the newly redone 911 TT the Tip is faster 0-60 then the manual. Some of these trans are getting way fast on shifts.

the only reason for paddle shifter would be for a dsg. I think paddle shifters for anything else is kinda foolish. To anyone who diagrees, go drive an audi TT dsg, or a new GTI with the DSG. Now thats a manumatic i would drive!

lol, yeah the DSG is badass... that would be the only auto i would drive as well, if you go test drive one its amazing that it will actually let you do what you want and it is lightning fast, the only time it would be about the same speed as a good driver on a manual is when you try to go from 4th to 2nd for example...

Paddles suck on regular auto tranny's.......what's the point?

But paddles on SMT tranny's are nuts. Instant grind free power shifts at the press of a button in less than half the time of a manual.

I agree that it does take some of the fun out of shifting though. Before Nissan decides on SMT (if in fact the new G actually has this) they should try to get the 6MT right first...
