Question about shifting
^ the expert has arrived.
Thanks Roast. So, unless I switch out to a lighter unit, I'm stuck with the delay?
Oh, and as for being smooth. Everyday driving is just fine. I only run into this problem when trying to accelerate quickly.

^^ Great "explain"!
I think I understand now. Thanks --Spike

EDIT: Roast: I came in under camaro194, but I think he and I both get what you are saying and it sounds as though we all agree. Thanks. Good post (short and clear).

Camaro194: Nope, I definitely won't try to convince you that forcing the engine speed to drop rapidly due to quick gear changes is good for the power train. In fact any time I feel a thud, or the car bucks, I know I did something wrong (too slow, too fast, etc). However if I am accelerating quickly I do not want to wait for the engine to slow down between gears so that I can perfectly rev match the up-shift, so I am sacrificing the integrity of the clutch and transmission components, to some extent, in order to have fun now. I realize it's not the most responsible way to handle the situation, but buying the Z wasn't the most responsible thing to do anyway : )
On the other hand when I am just puttering around town or taking it easy on the highway, I make a conscious effort to match the engine speed with the tranny when up-shifting. And I always try to rev-match while down shifting, but like everyone else once in a while I overshoot the mark or fall short a bit.
