Been done. I wanna say Signal did it. Look at Super Street's website.

It's your car, do what you want.

for the price of the motor and turbo kit you could probably turbo the Zed, turbonetics ST is what 6500? then a utec is like 8 install figure a grand and tuning.

even though it has been done before, I am sure the wiring isn't fun to do plus from what i saw Sr's aren't much easier/cheaper to find parts for.

Correct me if I am wrong.

But it could be cool if you find a Zed shell... but you would still have a 200z

VQ motor is the next generation in Nissan, don't take a step back in technology. Take the money you would spend on that swap and invest in FI on the VQ. And i believe Signal did do a RB or SR swap.

Signal did a rb and sr20 swap into the z.The ogura 350z in D1 runs a rb26.They did it bc the support at the time was bigger for the rb.I had a sr20 240 I loved it fast light but there getting less reliable motors bc so many people are buying them up in japan to send over here.So beware.

It's cool if you're dedicating your 350z to being a drift car. You can easily drive with the motor peaking at redline. Weight benefit is a plus.

Throttle response is going to be a tad different. Maybe a little less responsive?

Theres a reason why they use the VQ in the Z, GTR and even the Silvias in the JGTC/ Super GT circuit series.

SR20 is great in the 240 since it weighs 600ish lbs less than the Z. I'd stick w/ a torquier built VQ, even though its heavier.

ive heard about the rb... but the z weighs too much for a 2.0 liter, hi-revving, 4 banger.

a question ive always had but forget to ask, the super gt (aka jgtc).... xanavi (?) Z, uses a VQ30DETT. my question is if we get that bottom end, and of course 2 turbos, can we have a 9k rpm twin turbo... essentially?

9k rpms would be really nice to have on mountain switchbacks, i find myself wanting to shift up but have to slow down or else i start spinning.

it would also be a plus on TRACKS to hold gears.

any thoughts?

VQ is much less of a hassle IMO.

Anything is possible. I dont think they have just a modified bottom end. Im pretty sure the vq30dett motor is only about 10% the stock motor.

either way, i think i made my decision. once i go over the warranty milage, im going for the APS single turbo kit.

but my only deal is that i dont really want exhaust... maybe a LITTLE louder if i had to, but id rather not... intake is fine tho.

but the vq is quiet restricted when it comes to farting. so, ill just blow my motor with high EGTs?

btw is the aps st compatible with the rev-up motors yet? i shoulda looked into that. i still got like 50k miles to go, so i got time.

the Super GT 350Z used a VG30DETT, as in the 300ZX engine. Not VQ..

The RB would be awesome power wise but isn't it like 100 poundds heavier than the VQ? Also wouldnt swapping an SR20 make your Z lose like 300 lbs? My 03 base would weight prolly a bit under 3000lbs. With a nice single titanium exhaust you'd have one nice drift Z. Not to say the VQ isn't a capable engine.

Only because they're restricted to it?
I believe the GT300 cars still use the VQ35De.

And you're right the RB's ironblock is pretty heavy. It would have to be pushed back into the Z's firewall to give it at near stock weight distribution.

Its a cool project for a track car, but I wouldnt say its ideal for a daily driver per se
