Default Moving to a bad area, suggestions to make my Z safer?

I'm moving to a nice apartment but in a rough area where they do have break-ins from time to time even inside the 'secured' gated garage. they told me they will be getting a security guard soon and that will be a big plus but until that happens what measures do you all suggest for improving the security of my Z. right now it has lojack, factory installed alarm and that's pretty much it.

aside from never leaving any valuable belongings in the car, what do you suggest? i've heard a little about a compustar (sp?) alarm. my concern would be wheel theft as it has the rays. it's a Track 2005 Z. locking lug nuts? would a car cover draw attention or do you think it's a good idea.

I greatly appreciate anyone's feedback. thanks.

hmm wow well in my opinion you should get those steering wheel locks on the safe side, another thing is try to get another security alarm besides the factory one like myself i have 2 yet one of them talks which is very annoying =(. anyways it may or may not draw attention but hey its your car and the whole locking lug nuts isn't a bad idea ive heard bout that but it all comes down to this: how much do care bout your car?

Dont forget the clutch or brake locks as well. Other than all whats been said already. Nothing will beat good car insurance and if you make payments, Gap insurance. Anything else is just a deterrent...

i would recommend a car cover, steering wheel lock, and a proximity alarm system..

honestly, more than half of people breaking into your car aint gonna drive your car, they're just hoping for something like cameras, laptops etc, while some ppl go for things like rims and xenon headlights and other valuable parts. just a car alarm with hood and window protection, and leave any consoles or compartments open so ppl can see theres nothing inside, less chance of a break in

yeah, i have gap insurance and glad i bought it.

i'm pretty sure that in that neighborhood thieves are most interested in car stereos and other valuables they can sell for drug money.

Get a big A$$ sign with the following,
"This vehicle is being monitored by a motion sensor camera, all activity in or around this vehicle is recorded."
That'll give them something to think about.

basically gap is.. if you owe more than what is youre car's worth..
sample, lets say your car gets stolen you owe the bank 20g's but youre car's worth is only 15... thats where gap comes in, gap will pay the rest of what you owe...
make sense?
