Replace the seats.
Get lighter rims.
Remove the spare.

Then check the gigantic thread by RickDogg.

gasoline is almost 9 pounds per gallon...your saving 90 pounds just by leaving the fuel tank half empty. People will kill to lose 90 pounds in a sports car.

Check out Alberto's exhaust, its like a featherweight titanium single exit... bad ***.

Your best bet is just to get lighter rims (and no BBK). It will make the biggest difference in acceleration compared to anything else you can do weight-reduction wise.

Actually gasoline weighs in at ~ 6.25#/gal. This is for weight at 72*F. It varies slightly by temperature, but this is a good measure, so if you shed 10 gal of gas, thats 62lbs less your car weighs

You also want to be aware of where you are taking this wait from. Weight distribution is very important.

Spare and jack are worth about 45 lbs.
Lightweight battery can save about 20-25lbs.
Stock exhaust (muffler, cats) is quite heavy. Replacing the OEM cats with test pipes can reduce weight something like 20-30 lbs, it not more. Titanium
exhausts can shave off like 20-30 lbs as well.

You can reduce rotational mass with lighter rims, lightweight flywheel, and a lightweight underdrive pulley. Lightweight seats will help too (try for lighter mounting hardware too).

And I 2nd reading Rickdogg's thread.

...and then have an engine that is unreliable, drinks oil, and has almost no low-end power.

Realistic weight reduction:

Lose the spare tire, jack, and all tools back there.
Lose the hatch carpet mat and everything (yes, it will get louder and look ugly, but you can just do this temporarily, for a track day or whatever)
Get lightweight exhaust
Get rid of your cats, do a resonated, or regular test pipe, the stock cats are HEAVY
Lightweight wheels, lightweight rubber (toyo)
Lightweight battery
Run 1/4 tank of gas or less

This is about all you can do if your car is a daily driver and you want cost effective weight reduction. All for the wheels, exhaust and test pipes are free! But I would recommend lightweight exhaust and TP's anyhow

You could also get rid of the air-bags... or at least the passenger side.. I could part with the stereo and speakers and not lose much sleep over that either(who says a sportscar has to be a rolling entertainment center??)... you could remove the sound deadening crap too, but that's a lot of work for not much benefit and without a stereo to drown out the road noise that might be a sucky combo. You could also remove the rear wiper and motor.

You could also do carbon fiber body work... the hood is already aluminum so you won't shed much weight there but the rear hatch is steel and it's heavy.

Light weight rims/rubber should be a big priority. That alone will make a big difference. Test pipes(or just gut the cats), Y-pipe, lightweight muffler, lightweight flywheel/clutch, lightweight underdrive(or not) crank pulley, lightweight battery - all good suggestions too.
