I just started hearing a whining sound coming from up front, I tried to figure out what it could be I have come up with a two things it could be and I am wondering if anyone else had the issue. I am thinking it is the alternator or water pump at first I thought it might be the transmission (AT) but the noise still occurs with the trans in N or P. The noise is heard the most on the front of the motor on the pass side. Any comments or suggestions would be great.

sure its a whining sound from the engine and not from the ricer you beat in a race?

 

Shouldnt have gotten a supercharger then. Haha jk. Belts?

 

check your belt tensioner,,,,bearing going away whines sometimes just before it freezes and takes out the belt.

 

I will check the belt tensioner but I think it is the bearings inside the alternator, I had a problem with this on my Maxima. Keep the suggestions coming!!

I normally hear a whining coming from the passenger seat as I take a corner at speed!!

 

check to see if my wife is in there!
I've haven't seen her for a couple of days...

 

I actually took my car to the dealer b/c of it making a very high pitched whining coming from the engine. The mechanic drove it and said it was common and due to the cams?.....I questioned his opinion lol...but anyways he said not to many people can hear it. Don't know if this is the same noise as your though.
