Default FF3 and Z parts.

I know we've discussed the possible increase in popularity of the Z when the new FF3 movie comes out but my question is concerned the parts. Do you think that the aftermarket Z parts are going to increase in price as well?

If the market does the same for us as it did for supras and rx-7s car value should go up as well. Before the first F&F movie came out you could find 93-94 FDs for 9-11k with decent milage and in great condition. You could find nice TT supras for around 14-18k. After that lame *** movie came out the price jumped to ~30k for a good condition supra and 15-30k for an FD. I think those cars are now overpriced and for performance per $$ I would take the 350z any day over a used FD or supra. I really doubt it will make a new Z's cost go up, but I do see it keeping our car values from dropping so fast. I bet you will see a lot more 350z's on the raod than you alreay do, and a conciderable amount more of them riced out.

I agree and disagree.. and I think that this subject has been BEATEN TO DEATH on this Forum.

The reason that the Supra''s and RX-7's price rose was due to the cars no longer being imported to the US anymore. Supply V Demand... basics.. The Z is still being sold in the US, and if anything it will lead to more sales at Nissan, more Z's on the road, and a DEVALUATION of our cars. Not to mention rising insurance costs as people wreck them attempting stupidity.

EDIT: As far as performance parts costs.. I think that it will actually lead to the JDM manufactures shipping more parts stateside, hopefully increasing availability to meet with the rise in demand. To hard to call at this point. I'm sure that the USDM aftermarket will ramp up further on the USDM aftermarket Z parts.

Could it not be said that the FF movies produce more demand, thus being a factor in the equation?

Look at the Ae86 and the intial-d and drift craze. You used to be able to find them for a few hundred bucks in decent shape. The whole touge and drift trend takes off and every kid wants one. They were ideal at first, cheap car that could perform well with decent mods. Then demand became too mcuh and changed it to a car that costs ~2-3k to pick up.

Funny thing is. A 84-85 celica gts is a far better car, and can be fitted with an engine as large as a v8 and still maintain a low weight >2,500lbs. Plus it handles just as well and already has fender flares for some large meat on the tires. On that note, you can find these for nothing, while there are getting as rare as an ae86.

I guess I just don't like the FF movies, and the whole hype they blow up.

I Think it will have about the same impact as it did for the Mitsu Eclipse.

Hey, that was the car I had before the Z. Was quite the head turner in 97'. I will take the feel of a Turbo over a normal aspired any day. Car was a piece of junk though. Had a 90' Mitsu Galant also. Best constructed car I have ever owned, ZERO problems for 160,000 miles, then wrecked it. Hella lot better than even the Z.

He was referring to the '00-'05 body style that has the garbage v6 in it. That car looks like a cross between a Pontiac Sunfire and Grand Am.

As far as parts go, it should help decrease the price as more parts come to market.

I agree that FF will bring a lot of new crap to the market for the Z like neon washer nozzles, but I would say that despite (possibly) driving up demand for Z parts, the movie would drive up supply at a greater rate therefore pushing down prices.

Although I find most of the FF type mod’s beyond my scope, I think it could drive down the costs of items such as turbo's, brake upgrades etc.

^^^neon washer nozzles...that's what's missing! Should I get green or blue....hmmm...maybe purple cause their the GHEY.

I'm guessing that nothing good will come out of this movie. Just cheap Egay crap..like duct tape bodykits and shiet. Plus, Hondas w/ their fart can exhausts are going to be swarming us like killer bees.

I had a '99 That I traded a week before the F&F came out.. I liked that car, it was a lot of fun for not a lot of money.
