Angry Grounding Kit for your Butt

Do you get a static electricity shock everytime you exit your Z? I get it all the time!

One of these days, someone is going to pull into a gas station, exit the Z, static shock when opening the door and ignite the fumes of the neighboring car.

Oh well, I like my floor mats but rubber would have been better on the static shocks.

we discussed this before, it is unliley its your feet, since your probably wearing shoes.... so that leaves the seat, but it happens in the leather seats just the same as cloth.

so that leaves air running over the shell creating a charge on the car, which discharges to you. only way to fix it is to touch your car with something metal first, like a key. its worse in the winter from less humidity. be cautious to touch your car, or something metal before opening the gas cap.

yeah the shocking thing is kind of annoying... not sure if it's just the moving air that creates a charge because was sitting in my car cleaning my interior with the stereo on for awhile... turned it off when the neighbors got home and when I got out... ZAP!!! oh well...

My Z doesn't come until next month, but for the last 3 years every time I exit my Camry (with cloth seats) I get a shock. Kinda wakes me up after the long boring commute!

Wink Found the proper DIY Grounding Kit

You might try my solution I didn't have much of a shock problem until I got a custom Sheepskin cover for the driver’s seat (see my signature). First day it was cold, I get out at work and drew at least a 2-inch arc! After a day of this I went back to the store to see what could be done. He said to go to the store and get a spray can of “Static Guard” and spray the sheepskin, this is the stuff that young ladies use when they wear a short light-weight skirt and non-cotton underwear to keep their skirt from ridinng up in back. (I’m sorry, but I have a glandular condition that makes me unable to see the problem with that)

I sprayed it on a week ago and it is still working. It should work on the cloth seats but may damage the leather seats (another reason to cover the leather).

Hey what do you expect from someone who drives a Z with an AT! Actually, the sheepskin matches the seat color so well that you don't even notice it (much).

Sheepskin is warm in the winter and cool in the summer. There is no sensation like wearing shorts and sitting down on a leather seat in a car that has been sitting parked at the beach in the sun for 4 hours! To each his own!

Like he says to each their own. But if you want other interior than leather just get good quality sheepskins which will cost about as much as leather seats sans installment. they will look damn good and they are far superior in comfort and wear to leather. I used charcoal australian moreno in my 300Z and it looked great imo. it is not about money because like I said these skins will cost as much as leather avalable on internet.
