Default Z = Cop Magnet

Ya know, I was thinking about what a magnet the Z is going to be our beloved peace officers. However, how many of you out there are/were able to squeak your way out of a fine/ticket?

For me, in the past 5 years, I think I've been pulled over 7 times and have been able to talk myself out of 6 of them.

Being in the military helped, I guess.

What's sad is that my wife is jealous cuz she's battin' 0 for 2!!!
Ha!!! Ha!!!

Pulled over three times.

Once for pulling slightly onto the paved shoulder to see what was holding traffic up. Got out with a warning

Once for going 83 in a 55 zone. "You know, there's always a cop after this tunnel......oh look, there he is." $300+ ticket.

Once while driving around a crew of drunk friends. I told the officer the truth, "Sir I've had nothing to drink but Coke." I got asked to recite the alphabet, starting from M, do some finger touching repetition, and walk a line. Passed everything with no problems, no warning. No complaints, cops were just doing their jobs, trying to keep the streets safe.

Default Street racing

Excellent advice NICEGUY, too many street racers do die young and sometimes innocent bystanders are hurt or killed...we don't want to give the Z a bad rep or naame...but the track, now that is a different kind of game

Default I never got stopped in my Red Z32

I had a Cherry Red Pearl Z32 and it was a sharp looking fast as hell car. I did some pretty stupid things in it but never even got pulled over. I know I was lucky, but it really helps to know your local area well. My '91 TT had 29k on it when I sold it last year.

Now I've got a Brickyard Track on order and I can't wait to get it. I really love having the best looking car in the area and I miss that since I sold the Z32.

First off,

Most (98%) of the time I've gotten pulled over for speeding I got the ticket. There's only been two times that I was able to look sick to the stomach enough for the cop to cut me some slack.

1st time: I was driving by to Alabama, from TX, for Thanksgivings 3 years ago. I was following another car (speeding big time) and we both ran up on a state cop camped out in a nice hiding spot. He saw the cop first and jammed on his brakes. I closed in on space between us and the cop pulled me over for riding too close. He gave me a lecture and let me go. Must have been the holiday cheer.

2nd time: Popped a wheelie on my sport bike (YZF R1) and didn't notice a cop parked at a convenience store talking. He pulled me over about 3 miles down the road and said...." I just wanted to meet the person capable of doing a wheelie in the presence of a Law Enforcement Officer....". I just sat there waiting for the ticket book to come out but it never did. He told me to keep both wheels on the ground from now on & let me go. I still can't believe he did that.

Only have one moving violation ticket. Got the damn thing in Wisconsin. I was going to see the CART race at Elkhart Lake. Our motel was about 20 minutes away from the track and out in the boonedocks. With the racing fever in my blood and just taking ownership of a GS400, i was driving 80 on a two lane road. Coming around the bend in the opposite direction.....a state trooper.

He made a hollywood stlye turn around and then flipped on the cherries. Then he gives me a break with the speed, only 20 over instead of 25. With 210.00 dollars less in my account, i haven't been back since

I heard Micheal Andertti got one that year too.

Driving to me and not getting pulled over is all about picking your spots. There are times when you can enter a good spot on a highway and really hit it!
I've been pulled over 2 times in the last few years and none were for speeding. But because of my job i was never cited.
It's luck of the draw!!

To steal an idea from the Supra guys(one of their top 50 reasons to own a Supra). I think I will just enjoy the looks on cops faces as I creep by them at 15mph, and the look in their faces when I blow by them at 115. That is definately my favorite approach to that situation.

I was pulled over in February on my way home from the Detroit Auto show. It was about 1 a.m. and I was doing around 95 in a 65. When he took my license he asked if all the info was correct. I told him my name had changed as of two days ago. He told me that if I promised to slow down he would give me a warning. As he left me with my warning he told me congratulations! I stuck my head out the window and said, "Congratulations?" He said on getting married. I yelled back that it was a divorce!! He returned to my vehicle, put his hand on my arm and said, "Sometimes those can be just as good!"

What a good sport!

I've been pulley over so many times I can't even recall them all. I was in a good four year streak with no tickets (but a few pullovers), and finally one pulled me over and gave me a ticket for a 40 in a 25. The older I got the easier it was for me to get out of them. I also started driving a Maxima, which doesn't make you "look" at as fast. I think one big reason I got a ticket that time, is I didn't get a chance to get the radar detector off the dash.

I plan to take extra caution when my Z arrives. It will be very difficult to not draw attention to myself in that car.

I have got pulled over several times for speeding. But somehow I have yet to actually get a speeding ticket. I have no idea how I have managed that, but I won't complain.

My last two pulls were at 100mph and 94mph and I hoping those
suckers have dropped by now. If you are not going 80+ in Atlanta
you will get run over on the hwy. I did get my 90' Z TT up to 132
on the way back from Destin Fl once and it was so smooth. It was
funny, I was going about 80 and got passed by two girls going at
least 100. So I let get out a way's and then slowing put it to the
floor and went by them like they were doing 55. They had to be
thinking, "what the F? I've gotten out of one ticket and it was a
female that pulled me. Women get off so easy.......

Default Sorry for long post...but funny story...

This I'm not proud of, but hey...we've all been there...and I'm much older (well, a little older) and wiser now...

Me and a friend scammed a luxury suite at the First Union Center for a Metallica concert. Well of course we were hammered going in and we got a case of beer there (for $90!). Well when the concert was over we hadn't finished like four beers, so we're like, at $90 a case we're taking this stuff with us! Bad idea. Anyway, so we're driving home (yours truly at the wheel), peacefully drinking our beers, until we're about 4 blocks from my friends house. Well, I decide I have have to relieve myself, and I can't wait another minute. So I pull over into this dirt lot, and do what I gotta do. About 10 seconds later, three cruisers come flyin up and shine their lights on me. OK...now here I am standing there with my pants half down, next to the open door of a running car, with my half-finished beer on the roof! I thought my life as I knew it was over. So he starts putting me thru the drill (the only time I've ever had to do it): say the alphabet...I completely screw that up...shut your eyes and touch your toes...I do that alright, but only because I'm totally peeking at my feet when I bend over. He says wait here, takes my license, checks it out, goes over and pours my beer on the ground, and says to go home! Of course, being drunken ********, do we go home? Hell no!!! We just hit the lottery man!!! This calls for a drink!!! So off to the bar we go... So we're coming home like a half hour later, and guess what? Same cop on my tail. So my friend says "turn down here...this road goes right to my house!" so I turn down, only he's so drunk he's turned us onto a dead end street! We stop at the dead end, I'm starting to wonder what my cell mate is going to call me while he's ravaging my ****...my friend gets out of the car, goes to the cruiser and starts pleading with the dude...and get this...again the cop says go home! This time we actually did.

The next day when I woke up I almost had a heart attack when I remembered what had happened. To this day, the thought of that night makes me think twice...

You were one lucky SOB. I don't want to sound like your Father, but, DON'T DRINK & DRIVE. It might be me that ends up dead ... I live at the end of a dead end street.

bgerber911,

Damn right I was a lucky SOB...I should have been arrested, and had I been, I wouldn't have said a word, because I deserved it. You don't sound like my father when you say DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE...you sound like an intelligent person. Like I said, thinking of that night still scares the crap out of me.
