Airbag off switch installed?
Has anyone had an airbag off switch installed on the passenger side? None of my local dealers will install one, but I found a web site that sells kits. They don't have any installers in my area (Tulsa, OK), but they say that they have illustrated instructions and that they are pretty easy to install and I can do it myself. They are on back order to get the switches but she says she will call back in a couple of weeks when they come in and get my info. Has anyone used this site or installed one themselves?
I was going to have my dealer install the switch. Had it ordered and all, but when it came in, we (service manager and I) looked a the instructions and saw that this was no easy task. They basically have to remove way too much of the interior. Too much work IMO so I decided against it. The switch is a key controlled switch that gets mounted under the dash but has to be wired through the interior cabin. Looks like at least 5 hours of work to me and has the potential to get ugly.
Be sure your reasons for an air bag off switch are prudent.

I'm having Sensible Solutions (I assume that's the company you found on the Web) install driver and passenger airbag switches next week. I live about 45 minutes from their offices, and they will come out and install at my house, even though I don't have a garage.
I'm getting the switches so I can shut the airbags off when I'm at the track and using my newly installed Schroth racing harnesses. (I'll be posting a report with pictures on that install tomorrow.)
I'll let you know how the airbag switch install goes in a couple of weeks.

Thanks James, I would appreciate any information you have about the switch install. I did talk to Sensible Solutions, but she says the switch won't be in for two weeks and there are no installers in my area, so I am contemplating doing it myself. But, I am worried about tearing the whole dash out. If you are around during the install, try to take some pictures. The lady at SS said they had done a few Zs already and that she had some photos of Z installs, but more wouldn't hurt.
I have to get a switch because I have two small boys, and I want to be able to take one of them with me to the store, to run errands, etc.

I don't think you are supposed to have any kid under 12 in a seat with an active airbag. It is also dangerous to have folks 5'2 or so and below in height in a seat with an airbag. I don't think weight is a consideration as much as the level of their heads with the impact area of the airbag.
