You'll definatly be able to smoke a lot of cars out there with the GTO tho Have fun
I thought the GTO got 27-28 mpg on the highway and like 17-19 in town, Manual tannie gets a little better than the auto. Thats close to the G and Z. No way averages 10 mpg, unless your ripping every gear every stop light and or at the drag strip.

BEN

The Sticker says 16 (town) / 21 (highway) and thats under ideal situations... Unless he does a lot of highway driving he will average around 10 mpg... My friend has a vette with the same engine and thats what he averages and he says he does not drive fast, at least not that often

Must be the sticker for the 4speed Automatic, the manual gets way better than that. I thought new corvette guys were claiming 27-29 mpg on the highway. Wierd.

Thats awesome how well the 400hp LS2 does with so much displacement. I mean, I have a 2006 Acura TL with the V6, and since its a Vtec, Im lucky to get 18-19 in city driving and then 29 on highway. About the same as the big Ls2. BEN

Z06 Vette gets 16/22 according to Chevy....

I think a lot of people don't know how to properly calc's there MPG... Cars for the most part never get close to what manufactors claim, unless you drive like a 80 year old... Don't trust your Car's computer for calculating the MPG, take the miles your drive divided by the gallons it takes to fill up your tank for that trip and you might be surprised..

thanks for the tip, Ive been doing it that way since 1992. Just messing with you man. Women are the worse though when it comes to knowing about the gas usage. My girl friend at the time use to complain about crappy gas mileage, she drives a newer 4cyl Ford focus. I was like really? So I took it on a road trip once with her and calculated it for her using your method, and we got 32 mpg. I told her and she goes, see I told you my gas mileage sucks, I laughed so freaking hard. Poor girl. BEN

Congrats on the purchase! I just picked up one of the last few 05's sitting on the lots for super cheap!

First mods should include: DRL disable (fuse box under hood) and order your GMM RipShifter. The manuals on these cars are garbage. People comment on the fact the RipShifter is an absolute must to enjoy rowing gears on that car. Personally I get blocked out of gears all the time.

Yeah, I got the B&M installed already. It feels so much better.
