Default HID Headlights - Care and feeding

I have never had a car with real HID headlight before so I have some questions.

I have heard that you don't want to turn them on and off too often (ie flashing headlights as a warning). Is that true?

Are the high and low beams seperate lights? In other words, when I toggle from low beams to high beams or back am I abusing the lights?

On my other cars I frequently use the high beams, but I end up flipping back to low beams frequently when another car comes in to view. Will this be "bad" on the Z?

Any and all HID tips appreciated, thus the generic HID title of this thread!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm 99.99999% positive that the HID's stay on for both high and low beams and you would not be hurting them at all by going from high/low beams. On high beam you can actually see the two additional beams that come on and are more centralized; go back to low beam and they turn off. The HID's are on all the time when you have the headlights on. Otherwise, they would have to cool down and heat back up all the time - not a good thing.

Also, you may see a little fogging inside the clear cover initially, but it will dissipate over time.

Correct the high beams are not HID, when you turn on the highs then both highs and the low beam HID's are on.

Also correct to avoid turning on and off your HID's as that uses up life of the HID's, so in low light or short needs just turn on parking lights.
