I finally chime in.

Just got back from a run on Angeles Crest with my buds. Will post pics in another thread.

Anyway it was Germans versus the Japanese.....heh.

Two 2004 M3s, both with exhaust and one of the two had the full "competition" package.

One 2004 Audi S4, stock.

One S2000 with intake, header and exhaust mods

One 1999 MX-5 Miata with full intake and exhaust and track suspension mods throughout.

My 350z (specs in sig)

All of the drivers except for the M3 drivers were pretty much at the same skill level. Have ridden with them many times.

The S2000, Miata and my Z were glued together all through Angeles Crest in that order. We hit 65mph top speed and never really dipped below 45mph. Our spacing was consistant.

The Germans were about 100 yards behind us the entire time.

So I can say that my buddy in his S2000 upfront could not shake the MX-5 or myself, and he tried. I definitely felt that I could go another 5mph easy on average. However, once again it comes down to driver and THEN car as always.

Because of weight considerations and if all drivers being equal the S2000 would win a track event if there were more turns than straights. The MX-5 , as good a handler it is, just does not have the power to keep up--even with an "all turns" track. The 350z would take second. Again, lots of turns, same driver. It's just physics.

FWIW the S2000 is not close in T2 trim. The T2 350Z is very competitive.

Have to be B for me.... I just bought my Z a week ago... have owned an original 2000 S2K for 4 years and put 120,000 miles on it... I've owned a lot of cars in my 52years-- and the Honda IS world class -- for what it does -- and I'm convinced that it is a definite classic. It is very quick .. corners like its on rails (thank you Julia) HAD cutting edge technology and looks for its time. The HONDA Gearbox is simply the best EVER ( even my friends in $100,000 German machines would agree) Very sweet little ride -- and I will miss it. BUT .. today is today... The Z is a different car ... MUCH MUCH better ride ... TORQUE is amazing ... I can actually hear myself think as I drive it ... and its looks and technology are definetly today. I'm totally impressed --- I'll let you know what I think in 4 years when the odometer is hitting that 120,000 mark.

I'm not sure what the conditions, etc were. Also both cars are assumed to be Euro Spec if it matters any...

Ok, obviously, this is all useless info, as the times are all on different dates. Besides, do you really think a 350z beat a Ferrari 355? 996? An Exige?

Do you really think they can test all those cars in the same day?

B. i used to be in sales for honda before going into service dept and i loved taking clients for a test-drive that wanted to see what it could do! the only thing about the s2k is it has no traction control so if you slip you're gone!

The honesty is refreshing.

It's cool to see that people aren't so married to their own ride that they can't say the S2000 handles better.

If i want to drive a s2k I can go to the go kart track. Sure its nimble and all. But the Z has raw power that the s2k cant match. The s2k is like a kick returner, they get some spot light when they run it back. The Z is like a wr, they get the ball thrown to them when the team really needs a win.

The S2000 definitely handles better but I think that overall it would definitely be a driver's race because of the power difference.
