Angry Dealer scratched my rim...what to do?

Took my Z in for service. Now I have a scratch on my HRE. Long story but I pointed out to the guy checking me in that there were no scratches on the rims. I check when I picked it up and . Instant rage. I met with the manager and was ready to fight. I have heard the stories. He said "apparently we damaged your rim in our shop. What can we do to fix this problem?" He suggested I come back on Thursday and he will have a wheel guy come by and see if he can fix it. I said that if I was leaving I wanted it in writing that they accept responsibilty for the scratch. He wrote it out and signed it.

It's a two inch scratch with a small ding on the end. The ding is a few mms deep maybe 5. Sorry no pics.

Can they fix that easily?

If not what should I ask for in compensation? He sort of offer credit toward service or something.

Find out how much it will cost to be repaired from another shop. Take that number to the dealer and ask for a credit.

Pics would help.

If the scratch is something minor, you can take it to the wheel shop
and they can sand it down and repolish it.

Of course the dealer will pay for everything.
Try to get them to give you free oil change or something.(Although I personally would never go back to that dealership)

one of my friends has a srt4. she brought it to a tire place to get new tires. they scratched two of her rims. so they let her pick out a set of new rims that were the same price as hers.

I would (they screwed up, it happens) and they're making it right. I guess the ENTIRELY honest thing to do would be to have SHOWED you the scratch, BUT, that's the Tech's fault, cause he didn't want his *** chewed by the service manager (been there, back in the day)

screw getting that **** "fixed". How much did you spend on the HRE's $2k? Thats a $500 with a deep scratch in it. Get a new wheel, it will never be as good as it was before they scratched it.

I recently had an issue like this... got the recall done and they scratched up BOTH of my 1 week old rims... they had their rim guy fix em and I was happy, HOWEVER I paid 400 for all 4 rims new, the scratches were in the lug holes, and were easily repaired because they are hyperblack painted... if I had a dent Id be skeptical... have them fix it, if its not good enough get them to replace it.

This is why we must put stocker rims back on prior to having the stealership perform maintenance. I had Discount Tire scratch one of my HRE's while mounting a new tire. It wasn't a small scratch. It circumfrenced the entire outer lip. They paid a local repair shop to repolish and clearcoat the rim. I was happy.

I think I am going to let them try to fix it and if it's not good I'll go for a new rim. I think it will be fixable but what the hell do I know.
