350Z Blue Ridge Parkway Drive!
Hey, everyone! We're planning another 350Z drive in Western, NC. It's icy out today, but we hope the weather will be better by the end of March because we're going to rally the Zs and take a drive down the Blue Ridge Parkway!!!
Here is the text from the flyer I have been distributing to the local Nissan dealerships. If you are interested in joining the group, email me so I can add you to the mailing list. My email address is... mcduck@earthlink.net
Here's the flyer info..
350Z Blue Ridge Parkway Drive!!!
Date: Saturday, March 30th
Rally Point: TBA (in Charlotte)
Rally Time: 9:00am
So…. would you like to join some other 350Z drivers on this road…
<Linn Cove Viaduct pic omitted>
Then add your Z to the line up…
Several 350Z owners in the Charlotte area have already met for some local drives and we would like to see even more participate in our future events.
There is no charge, no club obligations… all that is required is that you (or the person you ride with) bring their 350Z to the event!
Our next drive is an all day event to the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will head from Charlotte to Asheville, where we will stop for lunch before beginning our Parkway drive. From Asheville, we will follow the Parkway up to Boone, taking us over Linn Cove Viaduct (above), near Linville Falls, and around Craggy Gardens (below)!
For more information about this and other events,
Contact Andy Morris at mcduck@earthlink.net.

BTW, be careful with those Charlotte boys. Rumor has it they're a bunch of ruthless bankers

Hey, Cameron... why don't you see if you can rally some of the Raleigh crew together and meet us for the Parkway Drive?
I bet a few would be up for that.
If not, we should really talk sometime about having a meet somewhere between Charlotte and Raleigh... kind of a state-wide 350Z meet. I'm sure there are a few places in the Greensboro area we could pull this off.

I have cruised the parkway many times, my degree is from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. The parkway and many other roads in the area were my playground during my college years.
If I'm going to make the haul all the way from Raleigh, I want to do something a little more adventurous than the parkway. Don't let me stop you, but I've been thinking about an expedition to the Tail of the Dragon.

bhobson,
i am right there with you to do the dragon. some of my buds with motorcycles were telling me about it last night in fact.
i grew up in sylva, so it would be a nice excuse to visit home for a little while with some added entertainment. all we need is some weather that cooperates and we should go.
i still plan on doing the parkway thing with the charlotte crew, but i think we should seriously consider this as well.
what does everyone think?

Tail of the Dragon...
Guys, we (the Charlotte crew) have already discussed a Tail of the Dragon trip and have it as one of our other trips later this year. That one will probably be an overnight run. I have already been in touch with Ron Johnson, who maintains the website www.tailofthedragon.com.
He has been very helpful and is going to share information on hotels, routes, etc. Most likely, we'll do that drive sometime over the summer.
As always, if you want news on what sort of meet/drives we are planning down this way, drop me an email and tell me to put you on the mailing list. You'll get all the info on coming events.

Oh yes, slay that Dragon.
Distance from Raleigh: 340.1 miles. Approximate Travel Time: 5.5 hours
Objective: Make the bikers look like they're just crusin.
I have a totally cool 14min bike video of the road. One curve connects the other. It would be the ultimate test of man and machine
www.dealsgap.com
What is Deal's Gap? It's the Dragon's lair of 318 turns in 11 miles. It's the curves, twists and turns of his tail, along with a fiery bite if you get too close! It's also one of the best places to test your skills and courage on a motorcycle and meet a lot of people with the same goal -- Slay the Dragon! Nestled in the beautiful foothills of the Smoky Mountains, Deal''s Gap tends to be a very popular spot among motorcycle riders of all sorts. Whether you're in for a nice slow stroll or a hot fast ride, beware! The Dragon sometimes wins!

I agree with mcduck, the Dragon would be a good summertime trip.

I took my Z to the dragon last October after I went down to see the Petite Le Mans @ RoadAtlanta. It was a great first test of the car. You will come out of it hating the stock tires. For those who have not gone, it is the sickest piece of road I have ever seen. You won't get above 55mph, but it takes all your concentration and ability to keep it on the road.
