Emailed NNA re:order# & delivery
Well I'm tired of the magic words from my dealer" We don't know anything yet". I Emailed NNA this evening spitting nails about being left out, as well as their dealers, of the loop. I gave them my order# as well as order date.
I predict that one of two thing will happen
1. They will respond to me and provide me with a real contact person ... or
2. They'll lose my order and my car will arrive next spring.
I'll let everyone know if my ranting and raving did any good.

I've emailed my NNA rep about once a month since ordering. More often lately.
Today, he advised that I might be getting a letter from Nissan, changing my previously acknowldeged delivery window from Aug-Oct, to Sept-Nov.
Why the change? He hasn't said yet. Said I can get better delivery info the further my car gets into production (this makes sense!).
Said to stay in touch with my dealer.

I guess since it's a 2003 model car, they feel they can wait til 2003 to release it. Acura waited til Feb of 2002 to release their 2002 NSX. Until you see commercials on the air, I would not expect to see them at the dealerships, and yes this includes the pre-orders, no difference there at all, regardless of what they told you to close the sale!!! I only wish that I had a NNA Rep to talk to. So far it's been the slugs at the dealer. Just rec'd an Email from NNA telling me that I would be receiving a call from a NNA Consumer Affairs person to discuss my issues. Probably the same clowns I've been talking to when I call 1800 NISSAN. What a crock of BS. I'm really getting tired of the Friggin' runaround. This really sucks.

Well, as I suspected, they got back to me and told me absolutely nothing. So, I guess NNA really has all of by the short hairs. Pardon my tone here but now I know why Porsche & Mercedes spend their dollars, and pass it on to us, on customer service. Nissan should take a lesson from folks like them.

JDZ,
I totally agree with you. My point was that when you purchase a vehicle such as a Porsche, MB or even an Infinity, I suspect you/we would not have been kept out of the loop as much as it appears we are now. I would venture to say that if Toyota had a preorder program in place for their upcoming Supra, they would devise a system to keep the consumer more in the loop and less in the dark.

what do i know
Ah hell, I had tired twice to write a post here, but it kept getting to long winded.
So here it is, one more time, short and sweet:
Called NNA. Customer service knows jack. But its not their fault, NNA suits wont let them know. Why? Who knows. Marketing ploy is my guess.
The rumor is: Lots of Z's are coming in the first month's shipment(s). How many? More than 1k less than 6.5k. Not just a car here and a car there, trickling through to the market. This is a marketing ploy to saturate the roads with new z's, to help increase consumer awareness. First shipment wont be here till sept, if we are really lucky it will be late August. Regardless, by August all pre-orders should have a ballpark estimate at the very least of when your car is to arrive. The lucky sob's who are getting their cars first should be know in 2-3 weeks.
-Again, this is just a rumor told to me by an NNA customer service phone jockey. Personally, I put NO faith in this information.
