...took off my Rays in the front and found a bolt with a collar attached to the front rotor. it was on both sides driver and passenger.
the orientation of that bolt/collar was 1 lug to the right of where the valve stem was.. anyone else notice this when they removed their track wheels?
just curious.
it was i think a 12mm bolt head that screwed just three threads into the rotor...
what is it for?

there's nothing describing it in the Svc manual.

No problem, at delivery, the fleet manager did his run through on the car and showed me the functionality portion and then he had the service manager run through to tech side of things. One of her comments was regarding the "bolt" and that if I ever went with aftermarket wheels to just unscrew it, no harm done.

well if you had the same size tires and wheels (front and rear wheels the SAME size), then yes you could save some tire life by rotating.
but the main reason you want wider tires in the rear would just be purely tractional wise...(and looks!)
as far as handling.. well just think about it. if your rears are same size as the rear, then it would handle, theoretically neutral (since our car has a tendency for slight understeer) wider in the back would suggest more understeer.

hey matt- if your 19s have a deep enough space for the bolt (i'd say around 3/4" then i'd just leave it in. no big deal.
but if mean if its just there to prevent wheel rotation, and you know which wheel is which, then if you remove it, i'd just call it...
"weight reduction!"
hehe

you can rotate the tires on the Z. but rear tires must stay on the rear since their different sizes. but you can swap sides; however the Z tires are directional, so you cant just swap the whole thing, you have to take the tread off the rim and flip the rim.
for anyone that was wondering if they could rotate.
its not as good as normal rotation where they swap front left with rear right vice versa, but its better than nothing. be careful where you do it if you have TPM tho.
