here's how you test drive a Z, or any car where the dealer will give test drives:
first of all, be halfway decently dressed and act halfway intelligent
pull up to the dealership in a car that's not equal or better than the Z, or have a good story about how your wife wants to get one and you work near that dealer and thought you'd drop by - be realistic or have a realistic story with what you do and where you work near there cause they'll ask you what you and your wife do for a living.
If you show up in an already nice car and say you're thinking about buying a Z, they'll probably call BS and show you the car but not let you drive it unless you have a plausable reason. Just wanting a fun 2nd car usually doesn't cut it if you already have a fun sporty car.
you might mention you're considering a few different cars if asked - give a list of plausible/comparable cars.
If they say they'll let you test drive it, but want to check your credit - confidently say that's ok let's do it. The odds of them actually checking your credit are slim. It's a test. If you say no you don't want your credit checked, then they'll know you're just BSing around wanting a test drive, but probably not serious about buying. It's happened to me where I say yes, we go back, I fill out all my info on their paper, they take that info to the credit dept, and then the sales guy comes back saying "we didn't check your credit, we think you'll qualify just fine" and then you go out and test drive
I've never had a nissan dealer pull that on me though, but have had subaru and mitsubishi try it when I went to test drive an EVO and STI.
Some cars though, you just will not get to test drive. Chevy is arrogant enough to think their corvette is so awesome that you will not be disappointed in it so therefore no test drives. They told me two different times that they've never had someone test drive one who didn't like it - of course that being a loaded statement cause they don't let you test drive it until you technically own the car.

i got mine at 18, before i test drove it they said i needed my mom or dad with me 2. so as soon as i got to test drive it i pulled around the corner and did a burnout with my dad in the car, i have a z now but not the one i did a burnout in. lol it was fun tho

1- it doesnt matter what car you pull up with. if its worth more than the Z, we wouldnt think its a test drive for fun. just an additional sports car.
2- looking half decent and being smart is a plus. no need for a suit and tie though. just nice, clean clothes.
3- we try to make every potential customer to test drive first, fall in love with the car. then we go inside to check the credit and crunch numbers. we have one of the best financing programs, people with low credit even qualify if they have a job that pays ok
we view everyone as a potential customer. we dont want to turn them off in any way. that will be slapped back in our face by them walking out on us. we also dont want to sell a car that the customer doesnt like, at a payment that the customer doesnt want. when we make them happy, we are happy

it's understandable what they're doing...most people do go out just to drive cars...they're bored one day, and they just decided to want to go out to drive different cars with no intention or capability of ever being able to own that car...and with the Z, a high performance car, it's a special case to the dealership....most customers who test drive high performance car want to put it to the limit and test EVERYTHING, and rag it out....and if you're like me, I wouldn't want anyone to rag my sportcar out other than me....so that's why most dealerships are like that with their performance car...

Alrighty, Also as a car dealer. Mainly in used cars 2k-10k range.
Far as I'm concerned I see a person roll up in a equal to or nicer car that they are looking at. My first thought is alright, they have money this could be a good or bad thing.
Secondly, Soon as the person gets out of the car you can tell if they are buyer or looker material. Can just see it in their eyes. And how you look I feel plays a major roll in wether or not you are looker or buyer.
If I see some kid come up in a p.o.s car, with out a parent with him. I'm gonna assume he has no cash. Therefore If he asks to test drive a car, I'll ask him to come in with a parent because as far as i'm concerned if he's looking at one of our nicer cars, he's just gonna take it out for a joy ride.
Funny story..... We had a lady test drive our car. Drove a nice caddy CTS was looking at a Yota Sequia... Let her go, she didn't show up for 6 hours....We called the police to make sure that was her caddy, and all this... Then reported our car stolen. Turns out she was using our car to spy on her husband and drove the damn thing to Highlands Hills Ranch, from Fort Collins! (Colorado)
We then charged her 200 dollars for putting 300 miles on a car for a 6 hour test drive.... Which in my opinon is B.S rent a car if you want to spy on your husband.Thats atleast why we pull up credit reports before we let any one test drive any of our cars now.
But since then we've gotten very, VERY picky on who we let test drive our cars now... If it doesn't look like they can afford the car, we generally won't let them test drive it unless we see a good credit score.

i would assume anyone test driving the Z is already well aware of its power and performance

also, why wasnt anyone with the lady? there should be a salesman with the test driver at ALL times.

At our lot we only have two people working normally, one doing paper work while the other is out dealing with customers or running errands.
It's family owned, and we don't have any other emp beside myself and my step dad.
