35th Anniversary Z
I spoke to the director of Nissans' PR division a,d he said that the 35th ed. would be released late december. He would not give me much info other than there would be a bump in HP, and available in yellow. (p.s. I asked him about the regular 05, he said no hp increase just some running fixes and yellow).
Too much speculation going on these forums......most dealers don't even know yet. The best evidence I've seen is the 35th Annv. Z picture on the 05 Maxima brochure. At least we know there is yellow and new rims for that model.
Ill beleive a HP bump when I see it. Id like to know how they plan to get it. cause nismo sure doesnt have a freakin clue.
they probably wont go to a louder exhaust, a rougher cam, a *dangerous* CAI(cant sell a car to market with such a chance of hydrolock; people wont know), there is no nismo ECU.
so if nissans "performance" department doesnt know how to boost HP reasonably, how will nissan?

I work at Nissan and no one knows about it except the 19s and yellow paint and badging. Besides that, we really do not have anymore information. I think someone from this site came in saying that we were lying.

i was up at my dealer getting my axel fixed and the new car finance manager came up to me and i asked him if he had any allocations for the 35th anni. i was suprised he even knew what i was talking about. he said they were taking orders now with a 1k deposit required. i told him i might be intrested until he told me it was only going to be available in the (ultra) yellow! and no HP bump that he knew of he also saod something about special 18" wheels. he could have ment another model ofr not know what hes talking about.
i told him if it was only in yellow i wasnt intrested and before he even calls me my deal is $500 under msrp since they charged be $500 over back in 02. ya know balancing out the world. but that probably just talk im happy with mine
just sharing what i found out

take dealer info with a grain of salt, but thanks for the info.
all info should be labeled as speculation till you see it on nissans website or a press release.
as I said before, back in 2002 "insiders" said 315hp out of the Z. so it wont be the first time misinformation has be spread as the truth.

You know considering the previous Z had twin turbos and 300 hp, Nissan could at the very least up the 35th anniversary model to 300 crank hp. In my opinion, the 2003 350Z should have come with at least 300 ponies, and them the anniversary closer to 320. That would give me something to get excited about. It just seems like 287 is not that much compared to alot of stuff out on the market today. But then again, the Z has never been about raw hp numbers.
I dont know, in the 30k market its got the S2k beat for HP. it spanks the 50k porsches every which way. mustang gets similair power from a V8. only cars that can really boast a more powerful engine for their size are the evo and STI; which are quite impressive themselves.
300hp came along with a massive rumbling steel V6 in a car that weighed more than a battleship. 300hp and it was leaps behind the mere 287 in actual performance.
as for 300hp in the Z now; thatd be fantastic; but first you have to seperate fact from hype; if they DID do nismo; they would probably toss the exhaust on there and call it 300; problem is we know thatd be more like 291. and theyd probably charge 5grand for the package with the extra "13 hp" as the biggest feature when its really just 4 hp for a 800$ exhaust.
Im waiting for the 40,000$ enthusiast or even base "nismo Z"; complete with graphics. itll be out eventually; and people will love it.

I wouldn't expect too much out of an "Anniversary Edition" Nissan. Remember what they did with the Maxima? Pedals, shifter, Aero kit, embroidered mats and the exhaust from the I30 to give it more hp. Kinda frustrating when you consider they came out with the 3.5l the following year. Putting the 3.5l in that edition would have been a real change for the 2001 model.
