Post New Transmission at 46k MILES??

I have a 2003 Performance which I bought 11/2005. Had to get new tires recently, wearing way too much on rears, the camber is too negative, might have to get a camber kit and my car is STOCK!!

I noticed 5th and 6th gear were grinding, 5th more than 6th. Even with the clutch all the way down it would grind so now the dealer tells me I need a new transmission. He said they don't open trannys, no pun intended. I am at 46k miles, had 28k miles 8 months ago. Anyone have this issue?

I have the Extended warranty so I am not concerned, I am confident it's all covered. I go to Tustin, CA Nissan near Tustin marketplace.

Tell me how that goes with Tustin Nissan. They are Ok, not the best when it comes to service....I went there for the rear axel clicking problem, but I had to wrench it out of them in order for them to work on the problem. I also have the extended warranty. Powertrain is covered for 60k miles without extended warranty if I am not mistaken.

You can bring your Z anywhere... Alot of owners from this board come up to our Dealership in Duarte for warranty work... 91010...

Your tranny is covered under factory warranty for 6/60000 miles... Most likely, you have one of the original CD001 tranny's which should have been changed ages ago...

The Z has negitive camber from the factory front and rear, most on the rear... This is why the Z handles the corners so well...

Bob is my service counselor at Tustin Nissan. He didn't tell me about the 30k mile major service, which he did now at 46k miles. Some of it was not needed since I had done it recently, e.g. oil change, air filter. He also told me he didn't know what I was talking about, that the rears were fine. Then after I explained what a camber kit was, or sort of, he said he had to look into it, because he had no idea. lol. He called me back and admitted the alignment machine was not working and was not going to be repaired until next week. The transmission is going to be ordered and received next week. He seems nice then shady. He quoted me 70ish for the power steering flush which he later did for free. He recommended a fuel injection flush for 100 something which i denied. Is a fuel injection flush necessary?

What is the deal with CD001 transmissions Jason? or anyone else? Thank you.

Hey Astig_Z, check out my post I know off topic, but I saw your comment about your 350's axle,

https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-nissan-350z/201812-my-car-is-too-loose.html

The issues I'm having with my 350 I am now wondering if it is related, as I initally had an axle clicking problem back right (drivers side as righthand drive as in NZ), and well check out the post for the rest of the sad story and one of your guys in Virginia is having exactly the same problem from what he's described via MSN to me and he had an axle clicking problem too.

If I can alleviate or pre-empt anyone else going through months and months (3 months of drama) I will.

What year is your 350 and did we get a bad batch of half shafts.

Sorry crew, back to topic now.

Just add a bottle of Chevron/Techron fuel additive next fill up but run it all out, that should take care of injectors. If you run a quality brand fuel it should have some additives already.

I have a 2003 Touring, with less than 19K on the clock, how can I find out if have one of these original CD001 tranny's in my vehicle?

Luckily. grinding has not really been too much of an issue for me, rarely 3rd gear does grind, but besides that nothing much of anything else.....

EXCEPT THIS MORNING!!! I went to the local Kragen to buy a new bottle of NXT, and at one of the stop signs I COULDN'T FIND 1st GEAR!!! Clutch was depressed fully to the floor too! A few cars behind grew impatient and began honking after I was stopped for nearly 15 seconds!

What course of action should I take?

Thanks!

If you havent had your tranny changed you probably do... its stamped on the side of the tranny...

There are 6 different transmission revisions... The newest one is CD009

Good afternoon,

They installed a new transmission. Feels great so far (driven 4 miles?). The clutch feels completely different. It feels like the EVOIX clutch i test drove 2 weeks ago. It was really hard all the way through, now only hard initially but feels like a pillow once I get it moving. Is this normal? Also, the receipt I got stated it was the CD009 transmission revision Jason mentioned. Thanks everyone.

They also checked/adjusted the balancing and alignment of tires. No more steering whell bounce/jittering. The scratch that appeared on my rear bumper is to be repaired by them when I have time to leave my car. As long as they fix the scratch, Tustin Nissan is great so far.

Should I break-in the new one a certain way? Not over certain RPMs? Thanks.
