Default Base or Enthusiast? What do I have??

Hey all,
I was just looking at the specs for both in the sticky, and think I might have bought a base model that what advertised as an enthusiast.

I have no cruise control or radio buttons ont he steering wheel, it is a 6 speed, and it has 17" stock rims. It said it was an Enthusiast model on the sticker. Its a 2004 i bought used with 9k on it.

Is there any difenitive way to tell?? like VIN code or somewhere on the car?

Thanks in advance.

Darrell

Aero kit won't tell anything because those can be factory installed as an option. Me and my friend both have enthusiasts and he has the complete mud guard kit with wing and I have none. Easiest way to tell is like jason said, HIDs, or if it has TCS button. I think he has a base, since he has no cruise.

look for the TCS button on the panel to the left of the steering wheel. also, see if you have the cruise control buttons on the steering wheel!

Did the Enthusiast come with the TCS in 2004? I know that's one way to differentiate between a Base & Enthusiast for 2006.

Yes. All models with VLSD have TCS and/or VDC

If there is no buttons on the stearing wheel, then it's a base model for a FACT. Enthusiast and up have cruise control for sure. Also as mentioned above, look for HID headlights - no HID: base model.

Check for cruise control and the headlights. Enthusiast has cc and HIDs, the Base does not.

Sounds like you have a base model. Do you have the window sticker, and if so does it say Enthusiast? And how much did you pay? Don't let the dealer get away with that crap. That's exactly what it is, crap.

This is a perfect example of why the buyer should always know more about the product than the seller. I'm not saying that as a cut on the original poster here, just a general warning. I made my salesman look pretty silly by the time I got finished accurately describing the car he was trying to sell me.

Good luck man. Get out that window sticker and let us know what it says and what you paid.

+1 I researched everything I could find on the Z before I bought mine. All the way from the concept to april of 2004. This site was a big help. I knew exactly what I wanted and exactly what I was willing to pay. Needless to say I had no unpleasant surprises.

Dealers will bend you over if they think they can get away with it. Some will still try even if they know they can't. The first dealership I went to ended up pissing me off badly. I ended up giving them an earfull before I left. I was there to buy and they were only there to screw. They mistook me for an idiot. They repeatedly tried to screw me over, and it was extremely blatent. The first time or two it was expected but they were relentlessly trying to bend me over and I took it personal and got really ugly with them. (funny, that dealership went out of business a few months later)

Did it say "Enthusiast Model"?

OR

"For the car enthusiast?"

here is a fun way to find out. Go do a burnout in an empty parking lot then look for tire marks afterwards. If only one tire left rubber on the ground then its a base.
