Check the giant Supra thread in the Other Vehicles Section. It has about 10 links with that information

I'm going to speculate here for a moment...

The biggest change with the new SAE ratings from what I understand is that they have to be independently verified (and they now have to include power steering when rating). Anyways the point is under the new rating system manufactorers can no longer underrate or overrate their cars--it should level the playing field.

Now with that said the new Lexus IS350 is rated at 306hp, the same rumored rating of the VQ35HR. The lexus puts down somewhere between 260-265rwhp but it only comes in an automatic. So...with a rating of at least 306 and unless nissan's manual transmission has more drive train losses than the lexus automatic, I'm going to predict that we'll see around 270-275 rwhp with the new engine.

That would be a hefty 35-40 more rwhp than the 2003-2005 z's.

What do you guys think?

stock whp in the 270s sound sweet...i wonder how much you can extract out of this new vq35? lets hope theres more room to play with...that would kinda suck if adding bolt ons don't do crap for this car...haha

looking to get 300whp N/a with this new engine...really though, 300whp is more than enough for me...and majority of those out there...who will daily their cars 90% of the time

I just don't understand why we wouldn't get a bump in horsepower over the G's. It doesn't seem fair as the Z is supposed to be a true sports car and the G is supposed to lean more towards luxury.

The Z *IS* getting at least the same as the sedan as it getting the same engine. The only one not getting the new engine is the G35 coupe.

2007 G35 Sedan: VQ35HR 306hp
2007 G35 Coupe 6MT: VQ35DE 293hp (down from 298 for new SAE ratings)
2007 G35 Coupe: 5AT: VQ35DE 275hp (down from 280 for new SAE ratings)
2007 350z: VQ35HR 3??hp (prob 306+)

Persumably this is because the coupe is getting redesigned for 08 and nissan didn't want to invest R&D into it just for one year. I would also guess that means at least 2009-2010 before we see a redesigned Z, otherwise they wouldn't have bothered putting in the new engine.
