Default a/t to m/t

I have a 2004 ZR with an automatic transmission, and as you all know, auto sucks. I want to swap it for a maual transmission but another member tried this but there were too many parts you had to buy(trasmission, guage cluster, ect.). what should i do? i was thinking about trading it in but i have a 04 with about 9000 miles on it...do you think id get a good deal if i traded it in? any information is appreciated.

trade up for an 06 6spd version. at least u get a 300hp version of the engine. with your low mileage on your car, a good nissan dealership will probably hook you up with a good trade.

No one is going to give you an even-up trade: 2004 roadster automatic with 9,000 miles for a 2004 roadster manual with 9,000 miles. It will cost you a couple thousand dollars.

BTW if you wanted a manual transmission why buy a automatic in the first place?

I used to work downtown and the traffic in Atlanta is BAD, but when i got a new job close to where i lived having the auto just didnt seem as good.

decide for yourself how much you are willing to spend to do this change. If its $3-5k then you can trade in your car and buy a similar used Z with the 6 speed.

However if you don't mind working a little, you could sell your car to a private party and pick up another Z from a different private party. You will lose much less if you do it this way (might even come out ahead if you switch to a coupe).

I would be willing to bet that an automatic roadster would be pretty easy to sell private party.

Theres no such thing as a good deal on a trade in, i was a car salesmen for 3 and a half years. The only way a dealership can make money on a trade in is if they rip u off by giving u below the value of the car. Just Sell it in the newspaper, ebay motors, or bite the bullet and take the loss.

honestly I say quit letting the stick fanboys get you down... enjoy your car for another year or so, save up, and buy something completely new... replacing a Z33 for another Z33 seems crazy to me... even if you are going from at to mt... even if you lose as little as $3k doing the trade, think of all the mods you could have done for that money

Yeah and as for hardtop vs. roadster I would personally choose the coupe for many reasons.

But that's public opinion. Get what fits you, if you like rolling with the top down get the ZR but if you prefer always having a roof then coupe it.

Your purchase should be based on your choices.

The roadster is a very different driving experience than the coupe. You should know by now if you mostly drive it top-down or top closed. If you love the convertible feeling, you won't want to go back to a coupe. But if you found out you hate the wind in your hair thing, then switch.

However - if you still owe money on your car, then don't be in a rush to get rid of it. Learn how to use the manumatic or whatever they call it. Pretty close to as much fun as a manual, and you still have the auto option when you're dealing with heavy traffic.

Personally, I feel like with the A/T you get two options for the price of one - you can drive it like a manual or you can just leave it in D. To me and my bank account, I wouldn't switch out of a car that had 99% of what I wanted, unless I just had all the money I was ever going to need in life and couldn't wait to find a way to give dealers several thousand more of my $$$$$.

I would wait until the new model Z comes out in 2008, which would be about a 12-14 month wait... Until then save up your money...

+1 if you are switching to m/t for performance reasons you may as well go with the coupe since its faster/lighter...

There are three major centers for transmission surgery: Johns Hopkins, the University of Minnesota, and Columbus Medical center. I wouldn't be surprised if Billy has applied for reassignment at one or all of them, and been rejected.
