The dealer is aware of the problem I'm having. Right now it's just at the oil level monitoring phase still. I have only had it measured by them twice so far. They measure the level every 1,000 miles. They will most likley want to take at least one more 1,000 mile reading before they do any engine testing.

He told me that he knows something is not right but they have to collect data before they simply just ask Nissan for a new motor. They need to determine what is causing the excessive burning, so they can tell Nissan what the prob is and so they know exactlly what needs to be replaced.

Chad68, what dealer do you go to? My 03 seems to be burning a lot of oil too and I am planning on having Serramonte Nissan do the oil consumption test as well.

By the way, how do they measure it every 1,000 miles? Do they drain it and the put new oil in? The reason I ask is because I put Mobil1 5w-30 in mine, and I wonder if they would pay to keep replacing it every 1,000 miles.

They simply measure the level with the dipstick and top off as needed to bring it back up to the full mark. Come back in 1,000 miles and repeat.

Kinda like the intructions on shampoo

It's Santa Rosa Nissan.

I am about 7K on my new longblock and 3K on a new tranny and clutch, all covered under warranty for my 03' with 57K.

Having a good dealer makes everything so much easier. They did one OC test and I went through 1.5qts in 600 miles. After that they did a compression check and my compression was way low on my 4th cylnder. The OC was coming from the oil leaking into the cylinder. Upon further exploration it turned out my cams were scored due to oil depervation and they replaced the whole thing.

So Nissan has just about replaced my entire car now... I have about 3K left on my warranty and am trying to get it bumped up to 100K.

Really?? Considering how inaccurate our dipstick is, no wonder your readings were very different from test to test.

I only have 4,000 miles on my car and they just ordered me a new shortblock! I was hoping to get a new longblock incase my cams were scoured.... but oh wells. Better than nothing!
