Default hit and run.....!!!

So i was driving down a 3 lane road on the left, when this red explorer merges into the left lane from a plaza while im driving in it. Without time to react, because i thought he/she was going to the middle lane, when he/she swerved into the left (literally swerved)i slammed on my brakes an then my car t-bones his/her car from an angle kind (my front right side hits his/her drivers side middle of the car). Then, after a moment of silence he/she speeds off to a light an i chase the car an signal him/her to go into the plaza an i make the right to the plaza. Then from my side view mirror i see the red explorer doing a U-Turn an speeding off. I go park an call the police to report a hit an run an i explain everything an he draws the diagram an files the report an my car gets towed. (cop told me the person might have ran because could have been illegal immigrant, have had drugs in car, license suspension, or DUI) The front right side fender is all bent, the passanger side mirror is dangling by the wires, an paint scratched off, rims are deep scratched, and the far right side of my passanger side door is scratched. Luckily my engine is not touched at all. Sorry I dont have pictures, I didnt have my camera at the time.
I have a couple of questions.
1) Even though insurance covers it will my insurance go up?
2) From the explanation above, does anyone know how long my car might be gone? (like in the garange getting repaired)

heh, good for you trying to catch her the first time. Thats one thing ill try to do if someone hits me and runs, and my car is still drivable.

As for the answers its hard to say. More than likely nothing will happen $$$ wise, and without pics of the car its hard to tell.

Have to say, I first thought of the racist stereotype myself. :/

Good luck finding out who it was though -- but I wouldn't count on in a city that big.

I haven't seen the damage, but body repair being paid for by Insurance companies generally takes a good amount of time -- you aren't a paying customer so they don't care. As for your insurance going up, unless CA is a no fault state, it will not go up. If the police reports shows it wasn't your fault, then you shouldn't have to pay dearly for it (even though you might have to pay the deductible since no one knows who the person who hit you was).

thats not a hit and run, thats "leaving the scene of an accident"

hit and run applies to pedestrians only...

I understand that you are anxious. There is little for you to do until Monday. Do you have a favorite body shop? Ask for recommendations in the local forum.

If there is no frame and suspension damage it will drive like new.

I got rear ended almost 2 months ago and i'm still waiting to get my car back. The body shop told me it would take about a month to repair. What they didn't tell me was that they have a long list of other cars that need to be repaired before mine does. It sucks to wait so long but it's good that they have a lot of people bringing their cars to them. You should ask dealerships and friends where you should get it repaired. Also, you should stop by and take a look every so often to make sure they're working on your car and replacing what they said they would.

The first couple of days i felt like killing myself, jk. Now that i haven't been with my car for so long i don't really think about it. In fact thinking about buying a cayman, haha jk. It sucks to have a brand new car damaged hope things turn out for you.

No. Read your policy. Most policies allow you to have the car fixed at a shop of your choice.

Not correct. Insurance companies are a body shop's BEST cutomers. (For most shops, insurance work is at least 90% of their business. Some shops won't even do private pay work) A little pressure from the adjuster will push an insurance job ahead of a private pay job every time.
