sorry to hear what happened. Just curios, does your car have VDC? Isn't that suppose to help in these situations?

From the description of what happened it sounds like the driver went from a understeer situation to an oversteer with a lot of overcorrection and heavy braking input. It probably overwhelmed the VDC computer. The proper correction for understeer in a RWD car would be to ease off the accelerator and then when you accumulated additional grip in the tires to gently apply the brakes (if necessary). It sounds like excess braking caused the oversteer and then the situation spiraled out of control. There is also a point where no amount of correction will help. You just need to let the car take you where it wants to take you. On the track if you are coming into a corner too hot, the instructors will tell you to just let the car run off the track and let the car do what it wants to do until you come to a stop. That is the safest thing to do rather than try to brake or add additional steering and get yourself into this exact same situation as this driver did.

sorry for off topic, but Im really unsure if getting a Z with VDC is good or not. I mean maybe this driver went front understeer to severe oversteer with excessive braking. VDC catches a heart attack and dies on you. So what good is it for? Slight wheels spin that you can correct yourself even if your and inexperienced driver. I never heard a good story of how VDC helped anyone get out of a bad situation. Then you have all those stupid concerns about wheel size and suspension tweaks to keep your VDC controller happy. Is it worth the fuss??? Someone shine some light on this topic for me.

Thanks

My Guesses are your Z is totaled if it is as bad as you make it sound. Its okay everyone makes mistakes, just don't make the same mistake twice. Best of Luck with everything.

I'm really sorry to hear what happened to your car. Since I have totaled two cars and had about ten accidents so far, I know how you feel. Good luck on your next car.

LOL! just getting a good visual of having an extreme verbal argument with a VDC system...

and no, i can't think of a situation where it helped, even in the rain you can still slide and spin all you want, or at least i can...

it MAY of helped when flying around a hairpin turn (dry pavement), you feel the tires breaking loose and the VDC correcting your line... other than that... heh, nothing... except make YOU look like a bad driver when it cuts power when you chirp your wheels from a red light...

i prefer to drive VDC off even if it's raining... I even hate the ABS... worst invention ever if you ask me... I loved my civic because when you needed to stop you lock up the brakes and even if you get into an accident still (never did thank god) at least you know your car did what it could...

with ABS it seems like you could have stopped... but some jerk-off decided that any more pressure applied would have been unsafe and caused an accident... therefore, you hit a car anyway... pisses me off...

The only funny crash story I've heard out of FnF3.
Sorry man, I guess some are influenced more than others.

2 Questions:

1. Do those black plastic mini-wings attached to each side of your front bumper offer any sort of aerodynamic advantage?

2. Is that the Target Dog is your pic?
