Question FD Swap void Transmission Warranty?

I have searched and could not find my answer so:

Anyone know if swapping the A/Ts 3.2 rear end with the M/Ts 3.5 rear end would void any warranties? Since the 3.5 rear end is stock from the factory in the M/Ts, would it matter that we put it on the A/T? It's still Nissan...

They'll never know it's there. Shouldn't void the araanty anyway, and I have yet to read about significant problems arrizing with the Z's automatic tranny...

Any time you change the factory spec equipment it will void the warranty

The tech may not notice what you have done but if they find out they will make you pay for anything it may cause damage to

Oh boy, your first post is an infamous post man...
To void your warranty, they would have to prove that whatever
you have done to your car is the source of failure, period

I knew that but what I'm asking is that if, in the future, a problem with my tranny does arise and I have to take it to NISSAN, would they be able to bull**** an answer to the problem and say that my FD swap caused it, thus voiding my warranty and costing me $$$...?

They can't void warranty on unrelated parts unless they can prove whatever modification you did is what caused the problem.

To answer your question quite simply, YES, of course they COULD do that and the result could be a big headache regardless of your rights. Will something go wrong with your transmission? Will they find the FD swap? Will they give you crap about it? Will they try to say your warranty is void? Will you get hit by a bus today after work? If you worry so much about it, then don't do it; otherwise, mod your car and enjoy it like the rest of us. You could always ask some dealers and find/establish a good raport with a mod-friendly one.

Pretty sure they would have to open up you diff housing and start counting the teeth on the gearing to know you changed it.

+1 on mod-friendly dealership

In my area of Maryland, it is Frederick Nissan. In CA, it is Performance Nissan. Try shopping around the various dealership service departments.

Agree: the transmission warranty is void. The drive train is engineered to work as one unit. Replacing a major component alters the drive train, and voids the transmission warranty.

David-

I usually find your posts accurate and informative. But your wrong on this one.

"Most notable feature of the Magnussen-Moss Act is protections for persons with devices, vehicles, or products protected under Warranty. Warrantors are not allowed to make arbitrary decisions in their own favor to void warranties for changes made to these unless they can SPECIFICALLY PROVE that the added or modified part caused the failure."

Do not start a war in my thread. Start your own damn thread and ****-fight there please.

Ok then, I pose a new question. If there is a problem with my transmission down the road, you guys think that the service people would check on if I changed my FD at all..? It is not a very noticeble addition such as an aftermarket exhaust, intake, etc..

actually you are wrong bill...

how would the drivetrain be under warranty if its been altered? thats like putting coil overs on a car and then being pissed because your suspension isnt under warranty.... changing the rear isnt going to void the warranty on the car. but if they see the rear has been replaced and there is a problem with the trans he will be paying out of pocket for that repair...

you keep refering people to the magnussen-moss act which means nothing.... the burden isnt on the dealer to prove the part caused the failure. the proof is on the vehicle owner to prove that the liscensed tech doesnt know what he is talking about. the liscensed tech is all the proof the dealer/manufacturer needs
