I'm not to sure I count, but I am still saving might as well since I have 5 more months to wait. I really want the xbox 360 but im holding back and working two jobs. I want to put 8-10 grand down payment so I have low monthly payments.

Saved for maybe 3 months, only because i needed near 10 grand to get my payments to where they are.
Should have really continued to save like that for a bit longer and just paid cash - but it never seems to work out that way when i try to do that.

My wife told me I had to finish graduate school before I could get one, so that provided the incentive. No saving involved. I saw an ad for the one I wanted and went and signed on the dotted line.

Not at all...actually, I pretty much bought it on a whim one day. I had been trying to negotiate on a Z28 at another dealership and they wouldn't play ball, so I decided to go take a look at the 350Z just because my friend wanted me to.
Few hours later I was driving it home. In hindsight, I wish I hadn't.

Didnt wait to sell my "ricer integra" to get the Z, and that was a good move because i sold it 1 week later and my neiborhood still thinks that im selling drugs because im only 21 and i have an appartment also
No daddy aint pay a penny for that Z, i worked 7 days a week during all the winter (in canada) to be able to proove people around me that i really wanted this car. And now im really proud of what i have in my hands.
I dont care about jealous people telling me alot of bull** everyday i work for that alot everyday, and i know it but its worth it!

Three years total. I really wanted to get in during the pre-order in 2002, but would have only been able to get the base model and didn't want a car loan. I also suspected with all the excitement of the Z coming back that dealerships would try to scalp buyers. So I waited until 2005 and was prepared to buy new until I found the one I have now. I knew I wanted leather and other creature comforts, so I was patient and waited for something I was looking for to come to market. Plus I was on sea duty and wouldn't get to drive it much and didn't see the point of owning a car I couldn't drive.

Still saving up, I am up to 15k and am trying to hold off until graduation in May. I worked two and some times three jobs over the past 3 years usually 7 days a week and was a full time student . I am down to one job right now and trying to enjoy my last year of college. My DD is a ford explorer with 190k miles on it. I celebrate every time it starts and only hope she can hold me up for another year until I get my Z. GOD THE WAIT IS KILLING ME!!!

No offense guys, but there are some ways to put that money to better use and to finance the car. Do what you feel is right, but I make my money work for me and haven't been dissatisfied yet. It's not about being rich.. it's about making educated decisions and being willing to live with those decisions.

Ah..long story short..
Got in a fight with Dad about cars & bikes..he wanted me to get a 4 cyl jap, i already had a 6 cyl german (98 M3)..
ended up selling the M3 and saving up $4k...
went and bought it off ebay and financed the rest..
i think had been saving since 11, i used to be able to save $110 every month from 11 to 13, and then @ 16 was able to work and save $300 a month.. ,
ofcourse i invested it in my M3 and the sound system...
but ofcourse i got the money back from M3 and sound system actully sold for more to some idiot, who blew it 10 days afterwards..
I'm happy now, just trying to get a sound system again though... and wanna do some mods, but i feel guilty at this time having to take loan for the first time in my life...
Interest sucks for teens anyways!
So i tell myself everyday before thinking about rims, or subs or bodykits that i should pay off the car first and then do mods..
PS: it doe'snt help when you have a bike on loan as well.. , but the bike is worth it every time...i ride it...
for the car eh..i dont know dude i'm having conflicting feelings every 1st-4th of the month when the auto deduct payment time comes

I get too many joys out of my R6..the Z can never compare with that...
But i do think the Z is probably the best bangs for your bucks, specially if you buy it used and compare it to any other car in its class from S2000s, RX8s, EVO,STi, M3 and what ever - best value and fun for your money with looks and styling..
but to each his own...

If I lived in NY, I'd probably get rid of an R1 too...especially if it was his only transportation.
I have a ZX-6R that is very fun, but I'm selling it because I don't get enough ride time to justfy keeping it, plus as life goes on, you have more and more to lose. Looks like I'll be sticking with the "cager" for now.
