I noticed mine was getting a little rough the other day so I put some leather conditioner on it. I suppose the oils and dirt from our hands plays hell on the leather!

Dunno. Body oil may actually help nourish it, but sun and interior heat build-up are going to dry it out. I've always used leather conditioner on leather-covered steering wheels, shift *****, emergency brake handles, etc.

As someone above pointed out, you can get a leather restoration kit or find someone who specializes in leather restoration. I had a worn outer bolster on the driver's seat of one of my 16-valve 190E's restored by a professional and it came out pretty much like new. Check with a dealer to get a referral. They use these specialists all the time to refurbish used cars.
