This is by far is one of the worst driving experiences I've ever had...and I was born and raised in NY. I was driving my silver 350z and I got on the Grand Central Pkwy headed toward Eastern Long Island around 7pm. So I noticed a Black G35 coupe. I thought to myself: "sweet lookin' car." I love G's; I even mentioned that to my girlfriend; it was our anniversary and we were going out to dinner.
So we passed each other at a moderate speed early on in the parkway. He probably was glancing at my car. Further down the highway, cars are traveling anywhere from 60 to 75 mph. This driver of the G decides to viciously swoop across from the right lane dangerously close to the front of my car to the outer left lane. He cut me off so viciously, I almost would have gotten wrecked and rear-ended by the many jackasses that tailgated. For God's sake man...this guy could have seriously hurt my girlfriend and I, not to mention other peoples' lives. Playing with someone's life due to jealousy, rivalry or something else that's twisted? I swear on everything I did nothing to provoke this maniac into doing this vicious act. I am a calm, and safe driver...minding my own damn business. How could someone endanger someone's live like this? My girlfriend screamed, I slammed on the brakes...shocked. Then shock turned to intense anger, and I wanted to chase this guy to get his plate number. It was and would have continued to be a fast chase of cat and mouse, not safe at all, so I stopped...and he fled...probably scared. I had him cornered at one point screaming and blowing my horn, I was really upset. The guy obviously cut me off in a way to have me lose control or freak me out...just to boost his ego? I used to laugh at these G vs. Z stuff on the forum, but who knew a**holes like this existed? He fled on the Glen Cove/Hempstead exit on the right before the Meadowbrook Pkwy.
Heres a description of the car, as best I remember it:
03-05 Black on black G35 Coupe with factory wing, shaved "Infiniti" and "G35 emblems, only the infiniti symbol remained in the middle of the trunk. Very dark tint all around, a white decal affixed to both rear quarter panel windows. Florida plates and larger wheels with a chrome lip.
I am trying my best to calm down, and to be glad that my girlfriend and I are not hurt, but it was a close call. I would have called the cops (buddies of mine). If I find this guy, it will not be pretty. It surely won't. Guaranteed. Ruined what was supposed to be a special night. Everyone knows how shaken up their girl would be after something like this. She doesn't want to be in the Z anymore. Anyone see this car? Know this punk? If you are on this thing and I manage to calm down, what on earth would possess you to do something like that just because I drive a Z? Guys help me out with this, or least help me reason this. I am a young, hard working, responsible guy, I just can't fathom how someone could be so crazy. Best wishes, and be safe everyone....an idiot is born every minute.....probably sooner.

wow what an *******. i swear G's prob think they're the **** bc their car is more expensive or something...but G's are just wannabes. i mean granted, they're good-looking but they're wannabe sports cars that "ladies who go to the grocery who need the back seat drive" (as referred by a Z dealer). seriously man that is ridiculous. apparently jealousy has no bounds for him. i really hope he gets caught cuz that guy could've hurt or worse killed some innocent ppl for no reason. but hey im glad u and ur gf are ok.

Thanks for your replies... DJK, you are right, s**t does happen on the road, and you have to get over it. However, it's something I can't forget now. I know you said that it doesn't matter what car he was driving, but I seriously believe that he did what he did because of what I drove. I've owned quite a few cars, but only this one gets this kinda stuff. I definitely don't 'showboat.' Maybe that was his crazy way to show he's 'better' than me....I could care less about that stuff.

I live in L.I., and I too get my share of a-holes trying to run me off the road for no reason, just jealous ****** i suppose. I'll keep an eye-out for this jerk, more for the reason to save my *** and car from getting pushed off the GCP or getting into a collision. The problem is, I live around the viscinity of where all this happened, and the sad thing is, every kid and their mother drives a blacked-out G with rims, and something or another done with the rear emblems, so its gonna be hard to find, unless he drives on the GCP at the same time everyday.. Luckily no innocent individuals, including you or anyone else sharing the road was hurt.

As for the OP that sucks but i doubt he was trying to attack you he was probably trying to show you he was "cooler" and cut you off but screwed up and almost caused you to crash and then once you hit the horn he probably just tried to get the hell out of there. It was most likely just an immature person wanting to show off. But no matter what happened im glad to hear you and your GF are safe.

 

Interesting road rage story from my family recently. My brother was driving his modded Jeep (4" Lift, 39-40" Tires, etc.) on his way to NY, on a 4-lane road (2 each direction).

His Jeep is obviously by no means fast, but he was going fast enough to pass a middle-aged fella in his Taurus travelling in the passing lane, but not passing anyone. My brother came up on him quickly and was within a car length or so impressing on the guy that he should switch lanes and allow the pass. Of course the drive didn't for about 1 mile or 2 and my brother stayed on his a$$. Anyway, eventually the driver pulled right and my brother attempted to pass, the guy wouldn't let him and was swerving toward him and whatnot. Then the drive swerved in front of him and break checked him. My brother did just fine to avoid hitting him.

Eventually the guy thought, "I'll be the cool guy from behind" and let my brother pass and rode his a$$. Only problem being, the a$$hat wasn't quick enough when my brother brake-checked him and he hit my brother in the a$$-end at 35-40mph.

The Taurus front end was wrecked. He'd need a new bumper, headlights, etc. My brothers Jeep was, obviously, unflawed except for a 3" scratch on his 5" thick steel aftermarket bumper. Hahaha.

Anyway, the police came and threatened to take both licenses for a year, but let them go on their way after they agreed to each pay for damage to their own vehicles...

In short; NY has a lot of a$$hole drivers. Yeah, my brother should have just been the bigger person and backed off, but come on, slower traffic stay right, pass left rule should be obeyed. And when the guy eventually let my brother pass, he could have taken the high-road and been the bigger person and let me brother on his way as well... Oh well, I just thought it was funny that the a$$ demolished his car being a toughguy and my brothers vehicle was unscathed.

 

I wonder if you even know any G owners in person. I doubt any G owner is jealous of a Z, I wouldnt understand why. I love both G coupes and Z's... and for you to say such stupid comments is ignorant and stereotypical.

it's true at least where im at...G's always mess around with me. but i just laugh...it's not a real sports car end of story. i just hate it when they act like they're the **** when ive done nothing to them. i dont understand why people gang up on me on a Z forum when im standing up for my Z. i dont take **** from G's. that is all.

Snair2, be careful around your area, but I am sure you are a veteran by now. You are right, there are so many G's out here and they all look alike. Lots of stupid 'rich' kids with the blow outs. (That guido appreciation thread comes to mind, hehe.) Maybe if they worked hard for their car, they wouldn't risk lives by being stupid with it.

 

Dude, G's and Z's are the same car. It's like someone with a Firebird saying a Camaro is trash. G drivers are not jealous of Z drivers and Z drivers are not jealous of G drivers. Don't try to read more into this kinda stuff than you need to. Dude is an idiot, it's that simple.
