I hope by vert you mean to drop it off a cliff... I owned a Pontiac and it ended up owning me. 13 alternators in 11 months. Power Steering, belts, window motors... uggghh...

The Solstice and Saturn Sky are both nice cars in Turbo trim (forget the weak NA versions). I'll give GM props for coming out with such stylish cars.

Reliable?? Only time will tell...but Pontiac has made great strides in terms of reliability since the days of my old #*%@& Piece O' Shyt '87 Fiero GT (damn lemon!)

You should read the side-by-side comparison/road test EVO (a British auto mag; no, it has nothing to do with Mitsu Evo) did this month between a Z and the redesigned '07 Audi TT.

Z won.

An LS Coupe, since the new TT does not have a roadster yet. They tested them on European mountains roads and final verdit was that the TT is "much more refined (duh!) and has tremendous braking power" etc. but the Zed was "a pure joy and provided endless fun" among other things.

And it isn't one of those one-page comparos, by the way. It is a full-length road test.

I dont mean to add to the fire or anything but...

When shopping for my 06 Z (which I never bought waiting on the 07 =(), I had much interest in the solstice. Went to a Pontiac dealer and saw the plastics of the rear view mirror and some of the panels and then I saw the crooked as hell looking salesman and I jsut left. Ive seen better looking plastic on my $10 window fan from walmart. Im sorry.

Moral of the story: solstice: i cannot sit in a car that feels THAT ceap!

nissan salespersons: down to earth knows that internet exists.

pontiac salesperson: Still smooth talking and still living in the 70's.

2007 Z: hurry the **** up....

The only thing that matters is that everytime I fire up the z, put the top down and go for a little drive, I'm smiling all the way . That is the important thing and I couldn't be happier with the car.

In NZ 350Z GT = 65 000 NZD and the BMW Z4 3.0 = 105 000 NZD
Not a fair comparison, even the 2.5 Ltr Z4 is 92 000

The Z winds hands down for value for money. Plus the 350Z is sexier anyway

Its a Nissan not a BMW, the fact that they even compare the 350Z to the 3.0Ltr Z4 is a major compliment for us

The 2005-ZR is about 300lbs lighter than a 2006, and would have (probably) tested #1. Weight kills.

The theoretical weight difference between 06 and 03-05 is misleading. Guys that actually tested them like davidv and Alberto have stated in posts less actual weight difference. In other words, the 06 is not that more heavy than previous models as we might think based on nominal value.
