Default 350z touring auto non-revup vs 06 6 speed rev-up

okay i own a 03 touring model which is auto with nismo exhaust and jwt popcharger i ran against my friend that has a 06 base model 6 speed and we ran about 8 times some wins went to me and some went to him but i was not impressed with him winning since i have these mods to his stock car rev-up engine he won from a dead stop because i think that i couldnt get any grip because of the low gearing of the auto would this cause me to lose from a stop because i definetely thought i would win from a stop by a little at least since i have more torque then him on a 03 also i know that he would when when we got to forth because of that damn rev-up motor their fast top end. first of all why would i lose like this i think im a good driver in a auto if that makes since i was manually shiftin the tiptronic should a 06 stick beat an o3 auto with mininal mods and what can i do to make my 4th gear more powerful if anything i need some help i will post video of us racing ilater today i jump a 1 car length and then he begins to real me in and he is a pretty good driver.

autos have more drivetrain loss. With your 287hp engine and mods you are about = crank power as the revup z. However since you are auto, you make less power than he does to the ground. A well driven manual against your car shouold win every single time

I see a serious need for sentences.

Even with your mods, my money is on the stock 6mt revup every time. You have less power to the ground(less power at the crank + more drivetrain loss), less aggressive gearing, and the lack of ability to speed shift. I have a stock base model (non revup), and even I would be disappointed if I lost a single race to you(not that I would ). That's the price you pay with a slushbox.

First of all i was writting fast because i had something i had to do that was a little more important than this so get off my back. Well i read threads about auto vs. manual and they say that there isn't much difference in times between the two. The quarter mile times between the two are extremely close to each other so i really dont understand where the huge difference comes in. My 03 has more torque while his 06 has more horsepower plus my 2 mods so i would think i would still come ahead but like i said i did pull him about 1 car till about 80ish till he started pulling hard but i didnt get my *** kicked or anything like that and if it was the same year as my car it would have been a extremely close race he just pulled me because of his rev-up engine of course. I was wondering is their anything that i can do to be equal if not faster than him like a plenum or a transmission upgrade or a pulley. I was sure to use proper punctuation and grammar for all the english majors that don't have anything else to do but rag on people. I know how to write and use correct grammar so please get a life! i guess the real question is is their any upgrades you can do to the auto transmission so it gets less drive train loss or what?

AFA the drivetrain loss, no, that is inherent with the design. You can upgrade the torque converter and valve body though...

1. The Touring is heavier than the Base. Even between an 03 and 06.

2. The AT is slower than the MT regardless of year for the reasons others metioned above.

3. Your intake/exhaust (realistically) are more for sound than performance. You probably gained something but not more than a few HP.

4. He didn't beat you just because of the rev-up. There's more to it than that (driver, tranny, weight, shift points, etc.).

You can get away with bad grammer here but most people like to see some white-space (paragraphs) and the use of periods. It makes things easier to read.

I don't think your friend can drive very good apparently. No offense but I would be pissed if you beat me. But I wouldn't sweat it, when I'm in rush hour traffic I cus myself for not getting an auto.

I've been eyeing that thing for awhile now. I just don't know if I should spend the 30 or 40 dollars for 50hp. I guess if it says nismo on it...you know it's good.

I know this guy who has a 06 base rev-up Z with cai, injen exhaust. I have a 03 touring auto with Injen exhaust. After a cool down for both of us. We did a 1st gear roll to 120mph. He just got me by 1/2 car. He said his shifts were right on. I had many runs with other Zs and the outcome is close. I had my Z since Nov 2002 with 31k miles now. I even had a race with a stage 2 SRT-4 running low 13s@ 107 from 0-110 he got me by 1-1/2 cars.

ahead in a nonrevup against a revup by 3 cars? that sounds a little optimistic, even though i have an 05 touring AT with nonrevup. Is the injen exhaust the only mod? cats? testpipes?
