Default Week old Z leaks oil.

I just purchased a new 06 base z and it's not even a week old and is in the shop with an oil leak. Should I make them take the car back or let the dealership fix it. The dealership explained it was a valve cover gasket installed wrong at the factory. They have the valve cover gasket but had to order intake plenium gaskets. The Z has been in the shop for 1 week now still waiting on the gaskets. The dealership carries insurance on new cars for thirty days after purchase, so they should take it back. I am new to this website and any advise would be appreciated. What a wasted week of vacation.

I'm not sure if you can make them take it back, but I certainly understand your sentiments. I mean, if they screwed up the valve cover gasket, kinda makes you wonder if they screwed anything else up that's just waiting to break maybe a month or two from now, right?

I wouldn't panic. A gasket is something very minor and I wouldn't take it as a sign of things to come. Definitely don't let it ruin your enjoyment of such an awesome sports car (when you get it back).

Yeah, waiting on parts sucks, but that is very minor; just let them fix it and your Z will be fine.

You're right, I guess I need to learn a little patience. I still have a trcked out100th anniversary fatboy to ride. Then again tropical storm Ernesto will ruin the rest of the week right thru Laborday weekend........

76000 miles here and never a drop of oil on the ground or consumed within...

I would let them fix the valve cover and enjoy the vehicle... I mean, you have at least 36,000 - 50,000 miles warranty at minimum, so they can fix anything that may go wrong for free.

The wait sucks, but thats life...

They screwed up at the factory. I thought the later models would be flawless. My 03 Z has 31K never leaked anything. You just got stuck with a defect.

They better have given you a New Z loaner. What loaner did they give YOU?

They offered me a honda civic or a dodge stratus. I turned them down, I didn't tell them the Z is my toy and not my daily ride.
