2004 Color News

Well kids, it's official. Well I shouldn't say official because my source asked me not to name him, but Brickyard will not be produced next year. We had heard rumors of that color being discontinued, but yes... it's true, there will be no 2004 Brickyard 350Z.
Sooo.....
If you like the color, get thee to a dealership pronto!
No "official" news on Yellow but I have heard strong rumors that it will be offered, and there will be a silver offered that is almost identical to the silver that was first seen on the show car. I know the show car paint was crazy expensive, notice I said **almost** the same. Liquid Silver will be offered in 2004.
Think T2 liquid silver and you know what I mean. This picture below is the show car paint, but the new color is practically identical from what I have heard.
As for other Z goodies... you'll know when I know.

well... sinced the convertible is being dubbed as a 2004 model, I guess that means there will be no Brickyard convertibles.
That sucks!
I was all ready to trade in my current Z for a droptop, but was wanting to keep the same model and colors. I LUV THE BRICK!!! I can live with changing from a Performance model to something else, but now I'm going to have to choose either Brickyard or Droptop....

That freaken sucks crap for us CS owners. If the liquid silver looks anything like the show car paint, the CS is going to look really dull in comparison. Its really unfortunate that they didnt have that silver available the first year.

Many many people ordered the chome silver thinking that it'll look like the show cars, it turned out that it was not like that at all.
Here are some nice shots of the show car by me from the 2002 Dallas Auto Show.

That was blatant false advertisment. The had that paint on the promo car, they called our paint "Chrome" which implies shiny bling bling. And now we find out we've been shafted. I think I would have waited another couple of months for this color, and also maybe avoid some of the first production year problems.

One thing to keep in mind... and I got this from a body man I know. This new color is going to be a freaking nightmare to patch should it get rock chips.
One other thing I forgot to mention... in the next month or so, there will be some rather exciting Nismo news. I can't say more than that though, the walls... they have eyes.

ALMOST guys, it can not have that exact same appearance, that is a VERY expensive paint job that takes weeks to do. they can try and match it, but it wont be identical, it cant be. the question is how close can it be? only time will tell, Im betting no where near as close as people here are probably imagining in their minds...
need nismo news now tho.

That car looks almost like a mirror finish in the top picture, is it really like that? I am not going to pretend that I know of a specific law, but I have always heard that "mirror finish" or polished body cars were illegal. Perhaps, like tint, it's a certain reflectivity that is illegal? Could just be an urban legend, but I sure thought it was true.
It's gorgeous either way, sure would expect it to cost more if they do release it, surprised nobody has asked/mentioned that.
My total guess on the NISMO news is a turbo, but I am guessing it's something visual since JmanZ told someone to hold off on the R-tune kit in another thread. Perhaps a factory/dealer installed bodykit option for 2004?

SCC magazine had a one liner about Garrett research developing a turbo for the 350Z with NISMO. This information was part of a long table of upcoming Garrett applications so it was not obvious.
What was unsaid was whether or not this unit would be street legal or for "off road" use only.
Someone mentioned elsewhere they had heard NISMO was going to officially have a presence in the US, guessing at dealers, and the parts would be warrantied and available for installation at dealers.
Dupont has a paint called Liquid Silver 1400, it's a kind of variation on chromallusion (chameleon paint) Anyways, one of the companies that dupont now owns is Standox, a german paint manufacturer. Well Standox now offers Liquid Silver, I had looked into painting over my CS with Liquid Silver to make it different but we'll have to see what comes out later this year. I'm not sure that this is the standox version of the paint, but i do know that this has the Spectraflair 1400 pigment in it. which is the same pigment used in the Standox Exclusive line Liquid Silver.

I was told that the 350Z show car with burnt orange seats was painted " 02 Nissan sentra MOLTEN SILVER" not a custom color.
Do you guys know how long it takes a car company to approve color? Longer then the Car it's self.
The show car was painted a stock nissan color, and additional clear coats were added...
I will post the e-mail from NNA later in this post.
As for Brickyard going away... GREAT makes it the exclusive color i had thought it could be... Bravo to all Brickyard owners that had the ***** to order such an outstanding choice...
( No Flames) i love all the Z colors, But my FIRST delivery EVER was a brickyard, Bright Sunlite day with Ricardo. See my site for the pics..
As for additianl 04 info?? As long as the Roadster is made in REDLINE i;m happy customer.
As a dealer, i hope you all get what you want out of this most exciting car.
