Angry HELP! My car is in inventory, but it's WRONG!!!!!

Is there any chance that the internet isn't right? It shows my car's VIN but it doesn't have the Nav system! This was one of the major reasons I wanted this freakin' car! I'm supposed to pick this thing up tonight and I need to know how to go in there!

I've waited 6 months for this car to get here after several "delays" and now it may not even be what I ordered!

Can they even install the factory Nav System after the car's been delivered? If so, what are my chances of getting them to do it on their dollar? There's no way I'm waiting another 6 months for my car and I don't want this one without the Nav.

I need your input!

I'm so sorry. I understand not wanting the car if they did order it incorrectly. Do you have a copy of your order to prove it was their mistake? That would make it much easier to deal with them. I'd make them do an inventory search for another car. I'd also ask for something extra--maybe the floormats, trunckmat or some free service for your trouble.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks, Joyia. I've got the contract that says my car is supposed to have the Nav. If I have to, I'll walk in there and threaten breach of contract unless they give me the car for what it's marked as right now and install the Nav for free.

What really sucks is my financing offer expires next week. I know I could get an extension, but I was promised this car by the end of January and I'm just so tired of waiting.

Wow! that sux. I would think that they can install it after the fact. I would try to get something, I doubt that they will give you a $2000 nav for free, but perhaps they will split the cost or give you some other things like a gold warrenty or something.

call your dealer first to see if it has the nav system or not.

if it indeed doesnt have the nav, i would definitely see about getting them to add it on, on thier dollar. if they are not able to do this, you might try seeing if they can swap cars with another dealer that has the exact car you want, you might wait an extra few days for that to happen ... but it's better than a few months waiting for another one to come off of the factory.

another option might be to see if you can use thier mistake to get them to give you a better price on the car without the nav system, and then look into buying an aftermarket nav/dvd system(which would argueably be nicer/better).

just my .02

I called my sales rep at 8 this morning when I saw the inventory. I have yet to hear back from him.

Thanks, everyone for your input. And I'm REALLY hoping that it's just an internet error. If not, I'll definitely be working them to cover their mistake. I'll be sure to let y'all know what happens.

And if anyone else has any ideas, please let me know!

Default UPDATE:

Well, it's definitely wrong, and it still hasn't shown up at my dealer! Now I may have to wait yet another day to pick up this car that isn't even what I ordered! But I'm going to raise hell until I get the price knocked down some, so that I can get an aftermarket Nav System installed.

So, Dallas guys, know of a good shop that I can trust to leave my car there while I'm gone on my honeymoon, and also what kind of system do you recommend?

I know. I'm still very excited to be FINALLY getting a Z. I've been waiting so long that I almost thought I wasn't ever going to get one.

My fiance did give me a good idea, though--that spot could be used to "hide" my boost control gauges when I go turbo. And the money I might save would put me that much closer.

I just want that freakin' truck to show up so I can pick her up tonight!

I haven't heard about ANYONE installing a "factory spec" nav at the dealer or aftermarket- that should tell you something right there. I mean I'm sure it is possible with enough $$, but it would most likely be much cheaper/practical to install an aftermarket (non-"factory spec") NAV.

I wouldn't totally freak out about what shows up in the online inventory- it very well might be an error, and if not, the dealer can perhaps swap your car with one from another dealer w/ minimal effort... that is something I would ask them about....

Consider yourself lucky and get some nice aftermarket unit. And spend the rest of the cash to fix Blose. Just don't tell to dealer you are ok, so you cand lower the price.

I agree. Make sure you get your 2000 back for the nav plus a significant discount for their screwup and I am not talking about free floormats - do you have aero package, gold warranty.

Anyway, congrats on the Z. If you figure out a way to keep it below 4000 during break-in let me know - I need a good radar detector asap.

I ordered a track model so all the stuff I wanted, pretty much came standard on the car. I was never planning on keeping a stock stereo, so the Bose would have been a waste of money.

I've talked to my guy a couple of times today and each time he mentions how he'll do what he can to make things right. So I'm going in there and asking for a truunk mat and maybe a cargo net, and pay 2k less than MSRP on what this car totals without the nav. If they argue with me, I can argue back that it'll cost about 3500 to 4 grand to get a nav installed aftermarket, and if they STILL give me problems, I have an attorney friend that can give them a "friendly" call.

But now, the truck that was supposed to deliver several Zs today didn't show and the dealership is freaking out because they owe like 5 or six people these cars. So I continue to wait.....

I'd have them scour the entire U.S. for your model possibly sitting on a dealer lot before throwing in the towel and taking delivery of the wrong one.

Michael.

Yep, check out the Greddy TT -- they've got a really nifty boost computer in the Nav panel. I'd rather watch the boost than know where I'm going...

Hope things work out best for ya, and keep us posted on how you like your Z!

Didn't have any problem to keep it under 4K (well, except couple of times). Under 4K it still faster than most cars on the road. And expectation of pleasure (end of break-in) is a pleasure. That's my philosophy.

As for radar detector - Passport 8100 is the way to go. Helps me to survive tremendously. And Dr.Bonz will insist on V1, of course

I would insist on a V1 as well. I can't tell you how many times that thing has saved my butt. The local cops just got a new toy here, too--LASER. So man, do I love my V1.

If they got a laser, then you are screwed. No matter what detector you have. The moment you hear LASER you know you've got a ticket. And that's if cop was kind enough to aim at you detector instead of you bumper. Otherwise you won't hear anything, and still got a ticket...

What To Say To A Policeman

I can't reach my license unless you hold my beer.

Sorry, Officer, I didn't realize my radar detector wasn't plugged in.

Aren't you the guy from the Village People?

Hey, you must've been doing about 125 mph to keep up with me! Good Job!

I thought you had to be in relatively good physical condition to be a police officer.

I was going to be a cop, but I decided to finish high school instead.

Bad cop! No doughnut!

You're not gonna check the trunk, are you?

Gee, that gut sure doesn't inspire confidence.

Didn't I see you get your butt kicked on Cops?

Wow, you look just like the guy in the picture on my girlfriend's nightstand.

Is it true that people become cops because they are too dumb to work at McDonald's?

I pay your salary!

So, uh, you on the take or what?

Gee, Officer! That's terrific! The last officer only gave me a warning, too!

Do you know why you pulled me over? Okay, just so one of us does.

I was trying to keep up with traffic. Yes, I know there is no other car around--that's how far ahead of me they are.

What do you mean, "Have I been drinking?" You're the trained specialist.

Well, when I reached down to pick up my bag of crack, my gun fell off my lap and got lodged between the brake pedal and the gas pedal, forcing me to speed out of control.

Hey, is that a 9mm? That's nothing compared to this .44 magnum!

Hey, can you give me another one of those full body cavity searches?
