It's starting to get a little embarassing
Coming from someone who has passion for mostly imports and european makes:
The Sky will be an awesome car. I really give a nod to GM/Saturn division for cranking one out.
Does it have the status of your typical high-dollar roadster? No...
But it has the most important things: cheap, light, plenty of power and I'd bet it's a hoot to drive.
No one else has a sub 30k light, RWD turboed sports car on the market, NO one. And if anyones seen one in person, you know it has a road presence. Whether you like the styling or not, the car is a definite head turner.
Would I trade one for my Z? I don't think so...but I definitely appreciate the Solstice/Sky for what they are, and how they might influence our sportscar market.

as long as it pushes the market to go big or go home, its hard for me to complain. The saturn i used to own, a sc1, was slow, rickety, cheap and the engine was a joke. I still hate it to this day, my bro is finally getting rid of it after i sold it to him. it DID get good gas mileage, that was all. all your friends make fun of you for owning a saturn as well....the 'third door' was always involved in the butt of the joke
if a corvette is deemed 'unreliable'... guess what this GM will be?

I purchased my Z a few months ago, so its still pretty stock and all I see is SRT-4's trying to race me. Yeah, its fast, but its still a Neon and ugly as hell!

People stop acting like the Z is some hot a$$ car. It is a relatively cheap (sub 30k) sports car. I love my Z - but I do not act like it is a Porsche. And some of you act this way.
It is still a Neon... it is still a saturn. => that sounds just stupid.
The Sky is a neat little car. Little being the key word, its a miata with a body kit, I dont mind it being as quick as they say it is, because nissan should have given the Z/G more power to begin with, 300hp is just not enough now a days, cars can be made so efficient and make alot hp easy, the nissan vq35hr needs to push 350+ hp or its just another wasted motor. Nissan needs to step up to F/I again and 400hp for the new Z/G, just my opinion.
I believe F/I was nissans intial intentions with the 350Z but from the way I understand it it pushed the final price of the car out of the range they were looking for. They just did not want to repeat eventually what killed the Z the first time. The Soltice is no joke though, I read an article some where a guy was putting an ls2 into this car for a cool 30,000 dollars. thats insane! Love it or hate it its here.
Dude, if you want to be faster than most cars in the streets you should just buy an Evo/STi. Just cause some guy is giving you problems doesn't mean you have to race him. You remember this, Your Z looks a million times better than his!

What would the 0-60 be at 350hp? Under 5.0?

The Z gets a bump in power with the new HR engine, should put it on par with the Sky, STI and EVO
Not sure if it would be a good move for Nissan to Turbo the Z, it would really bump the price of the car up....

GM is starting to deliver more exciting products and that's a good thing. The more competition there is, the better it is for the consumer. The Sky Redline the Solstice GXP are going to be hot sellers. Their respective base models are outselling the MX-5. It's hard not to like the Redline's mini corvette styling. If I was in the market for a roadster I'd definately go with the Redline. And for those who want even more power, one word, LS2
It's starting to get a little embarassing

you know what? Call me crazy but i dont really want more than 300 horsepower. Right now, with my skills, that's about all i can handle. The fact that the saturn sky might be able to beat my car in a drag race doesn't make the Z any slower than it's ever been. My advice? if you're considering a new car, give the saturn a look. If you already own a Z, dont sweat it. Love your car for what it is, rather than hating it for what it isn't.
im not into many domestics, but you cant not be enthusiastic that the domestic market is taking a more futuristic approach in their sports cars than the retro one...especially when makes such as pontiac and saturn havent really came up with much style in the last few years....the saturn sky and the pontiac solstice are pretty darn good lookin vehicles, i wouldnt say id buy one, but its still two vehicles that look sweet and perform pretty well...and though i think itll be like the GTO....short lived.....in the future theyll be one hell of a classic of limited numbers :-P
