I also thought that the xenon lights do not get brighter. They just expand the illuminosity (light shield that moves up and down). If you turn on your brights at night they dont get brighter, you just have the same illuminosity but covering more surface area, not sure if it will decrease the lights life expectancy, but it won't hurt to wink at a few.

Here

HIDs arent designed to turned off>on>off instantaneously. Our 06s have HID high beam as well. So even when we're driving at night with low-beam, if we flicker on the high-beam we are essentially doing the same thing as flickering the low-beam during the day.

I think there was a thread on 'how to acknowledge other Zs' a few months back.

I'm just saying if you can avoid 'flickering' your HIDs, do so.

I was in front of another Z coupe last night on the freeway. Not purposely, just happened that way. His mission was to pass me, Wave? hah... He just had to be faster. Weaving in and out of traffic endlessly until he passed me. Of course then slam on his brakes and hit the next exit. As Bugs would say "What a marroon"!!!

No wonder people don't wave. He would have given me the finger more likely.
