Default What just happened???

i was pulling out of my driveway this morning to go to work, the car got up to about 10mph then would not go any faster. The rpm's would not go above ~1400rpm no matter no far down the throttle was. I turned off the car and turned it back on and it drove fine but now I have a check engine light. Any idea what the hell just happened? My car is an 05 base model with only 10K miles on it and i am completely stock except for wheels. No out of the ordinary noises coming from the car either. I'm assuming it went into limp mode? but why would it have done that?

I had the same thing happen to me. Turned out to be the crank angle sensor.

Your cars ECU tripped into safe mode for some reason, either your crank angle or camshaft position sensor took a dump or your MAF isnt reading right.

Thats just throwing a dart out in the dark but those are a couple reasons why it may have gone into safe mode.
