If you compare a NSX or Z06 to a Z you'll be disappointed everytime.

I'm quite sure you're wrong on this point. You are putting the 911 carrera under 3,000 lbs. This may be dry weight, or else you are thinking of the Boxster S. Curb weight is around 3090 lbs the Z is only about 100 pounds more.

I like that 200 number. In a few years when the new NSX comes out, the current model's price will drop into the 40's. I might jump on one if it is in good shape. The current car with the non-retractible head light will be a rare bird. more rare than the 360 modena. I wouldn't mind having the last and the most fully developed of the great japanese super cars of the 90's.

That will help me get over the fact that there are too many Z's on the road.

If you compare a Z06 to a NSX you'll be dissapointed. We shouldn't b comparing a 350Z to either car though.

Remember what I told you people about argueing which car is better?

NSX is so damn fast in a straight line because of 1: Excellent launch traction of mid engine design, 2: Low driveline loss of transverse engine over transaxle (probably only 10%), and 3: More HP than the claimed 290.

I am one of the NSX's biggest supporters here. But at $90K it has priced itself nearly out of existence. If it wore worth $100K after taxes as has been said, they would be selling more than 200/year. Ferrari is selling cars for $150-250K and has a line around the block. If the NSX were priced in the $60's it would be a viable alternitive to the 911 and would be selling a few thousand a year.

Honda should stick to their cookie-cutter civics and accords and leave the sports car business to the big boys.
I'm curious to who the "big boys" are?

I love the Z, but it is not close to a NSX.... That's like saying a Z06 is close to a 360 Modena because they both have close to 400 HP. There are many things that make a NSX a great car, one of them is not price. There are many things that will make the Z a great car, and one of them is price.

Yeah you could easily spend 60 grand on a Z and smash a stock NSX into the ground, but I could spend 25,000 on a Sentra or 240SX and kill either if i wanted, or a Grand National, or a F-body, or a Eclipse, or a RX-7....

Yeah, comparing stock cars to modified cars is almost as silly as comparing an economy sports car to a $90k exotic.

I don't know what to say guys... this stuff is beginning to get pretty immature.

I just read the f-body vs. 350Z topic by some shmuck (sorry for the name calling ) and now this one, 350Z vs. NSX.

WHO CARES!?!?!?

How many of you have ACTUALLY (that means in real life, not in your dreams) raced a 1/4 mile?

Why do you want to compare the 350Z to the NSX so badly?
[The answer is - you want to gloat and I totally understand, but please chill!]

NSX is an exotic sports car, yes, you heard me right - it was made to compete with the Ferraris and that is what it (sort of) does.

The other day I read the C&D article on the Z and I want to quote what I read:

"As when the first 240Z came out back in the day, the new 350Z is in its own class." (probably not verbatim)

Read that statement couple of times and realize this:

350Z is in it's own class!

There is no need nor point in comparing it to the NSX or the f-bodies, nor even the S2k.

So, stop gloating!!!

Most of us here have ordered our Zs and can't wait till it gets here and we will all be proud Z owners I am sure - but let's not be a group of immature kids too happy with their Christmas present. We are all smart adults here, so let's act like we are.

"I rest."

Actually, sport compact car did a shootout between a variety of EXTREMELY tuned cars and included a practically stock 360 Modeno. The Modeno ended up winning. The editors called it "a dissapointment to tuners around the world"

These cars were no joke either, were talking 800hp Supras and 300zxs. They compared them in the 10 categories including braking, skidpad, roadcourse, dyno, etc.
