Shame on Nissan if this is true. I am paying $36k to get all those lil benefits while also getting the tires. What a crappy switch. Lease they could have done is fixed the pre-order people right. I'll tell you what they are doing. They need to get the cost of the thing down so they are shoveling crap onto the model with the highest amount of orders.

This could also be a mistake on the website. The "I Want One" site is currently down.

I don't think they're changing the tire sizes, just the wheel width for the rear. 245's can still fit an 8" width. I don't believe they'd use same sizes for a 4 wheels even if it's the touring model.

Guys, its for the benifit of hadeling. Remember when people were reporting that there was too much understeer? This will get rid of that problem. I just they would have made the front tires larger, then the rears smaller to eliviate this problem, but what can you do?

This is just speculation but what if Nissan made a mistake in ordering too many 225 tires from Bridgestone. So now they have an overabundance of 225 tires and not enough cars to put them on. I know they could save them for later production but this would be spent money that wasn't getting a return until much later.
Solution: Put them on all the touring models. Why choose touring? They figure that most touring owners won't care as much as most performance or track owners. Also, there was some bitching on the forums awhile back about not being able to rotate your tires. Maybe Nissan saw this and thought this would be an acceptable side effect for most touring owners.
I know it sounds contrived but I can't really understand why they would make this change.

The theory about Nissan thinking that Touring drivers are soft and don't want to be bothered with different sized tires might be true IF it was the auto that was getting the same sized tires. Nissan can't be so stupid that it doesn't realize that anyone who pays extra to get a manual or over an auto wants to drive the car the way it is meant to be driven and IS NOT soft.

6MT Touring buyers check out this thread.
This thread may be a little dated, but here are the specs from the cd package I received from Nissan.
6mt Touring/Performance- If you ordered the 6sp Touring package you get everything included with the Performance package:
Wheels: Aluminum Alloy 6 spoke 18x7.5 front and 18x8.0 rear
Tires: Bridgestone Potenza RE040 (same as track model) 225/45R18 front and 245/45R18 rear
I don't believe there has been any change, but we will know in a few weeks. My dealer just told me mine is being built in August, hopefully earlier than later, so I may get it in the first allotment.

I would definatley be mad if I bought a Touring 6spd. Going from 245 down to 225 is a big difference. That will hurt your 1/4 mile times. It can't be a issue of oversteer/understeer or that would make the change on all the models not just one out of seven. Who cares about understeer when you have VDC anyway?

ZISME? Your input here would be helpful. Is the tire size change for real? What about people who ordered under the pretense that they were getting the same wheel/tire package as the Performance? Any chance that these orders will be fulfilled with the 245 rear, and subsequent orders will be changed to the 225's?

Here is the issue
Here are the tire differences in perspective:
Tire Size 245/45/18
Width Inches 9.65
Sidwall Inches 4.34
Total Diam Inches 26.68
Tire Size 225/45/18
Width Inches 8.86
Sidwall Inches 3.99
Total Diam Inches 25.97
Diff Width Inches 0.79
Diff Total Diam Inches 0.71
The other thing I noticed on Nissan's page was that the wheel size is the same front and back on the Touring 6MT. All four wheels are 18x8. Compared to the Performance which is 18x7.5 (front) and 18x8 (rear) and the track which is 18x8 (front) and 18x8.5 (rear).
The width difference is a little over 3/4's of an inch and the overall ride hight will be different by 1/3 of an inch that would be the total diameter difference divided by 2.
These are not hugh differences, but Nissan screwed up. When I placed my order back in Jan I was told that the Touring 6MT would have all the options of the Performance (including the wheels and tires). I'm pissed I have to sacrafice performance parts because I wanted leather and a nice factory sound system. Bad move Nissan I have been very impressed with the whole pre-order process to date. But this is just plain stupid. I would love to know the reason for this (ZISME RXO) what's up.... Now that the wheels are the same all the way around it's not even a matter of just replacing two tires it's two tires and two wheels to compensate.... I valid response from Nissan is in order I know they reserve the right to change specs but this is not a minor thing IMO...

If you build a touring Z on Nissan Driven under
"Choose Transmission/Drivetrain"
click on 6 speed manual to get the popup description. It still shows 245s for the rears, but it does show the updated 8" wheels. I think we will still get 225's on the fronts and 245s for the rears.
"Touring Models w/ 6-Speed Manual
These models come with special additions, including a 6-speed close-ratio manual transmission, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC), tire pressure monitor, 18" x 8" 6-spoke aluminum alloy wheels, and P225/45WR18 front & P245/45WR18 rear high performance tires."

I think it's unfortunate that the pre order customers (touring 6mt) get the shaft again. I ordered the touring because it was the exact same car as the performance with some up grades. I didn't feel I needed the brembos so I didn't get the track (nor have I or will I ever see a race track). IF I kwen ther were more differances between the models I may have choosen differently. ie if the track had more h.p I would have chosen it. of If the tires were substantually smaller....
If this is true, and the Touring at has bigger tires than the 6mt I will be enraged..
afterall Why did we pay such a premium for the 6mt?????
signed, feeling taken
(If this is mearly a roumor that is disproven,..............................

This corrected document provided by Zisme also shows 225s for the fronts and 245s for the rear on the Touring 6-speed. Nothing to worry about. There will be 245s on the rear. It looks like the only change was to make the touring 18 x 8 all the way around.

LOL, when I read that I just saw that Nissan wrote in the front tire size for the 18's and just forgot to write in the rear size; A TYPO! A simple mistake that too many people are reading things into.

response from ZISME
This info comes from my original post. It is the response from ZISME.
"The question referred to Touring and it was answered that way. The only change and it is reflected on the correction that was posted for me by JMANZ was to the wheel size in front going from 18" x 7.5" to 18" x 8". This is applicable to both Performance model and Touring 6MT. Has no affect on the tire size that was listed 225/45R18 91W front and 245/45R18 96W rear."
This should clear up any confussion (I HOPE).
Originally asked this question just to make sure that everyone knew of the rim size change so that everyone that was planning on getting different tires right away,or in my case ,since I probally won't see my car till long after the snow flies, needing to get some all weather or snowtires(YUCK), would have the propper info.
