2nd car...need opinions!
hi, ive been a g35 coupe owner for the past year and didnt know about this site till now.... well just like the title states, i am looking to buy a 2nd car and want to buy a 06 350z. I wanted the Z ever since it came out but was forced to buy the G for the addtional seat.. i will be keeping the G because i still need the additional seats so my question is "is the G and the Z too similar???" My second choice is a 06 s2k (sorry...i know this topics been discussed many times). people have been telling me "why would u buy a 350z when you already have a G35?? there like the same car... if i were you, i would rather get an s2000..)) but none of these people own neither cars so i just ignore them. i have driven the 350z multiple times but for a short period of time only...so now i ask for help from the Z owners and thanks in advance!!!

My first car is a 12 year old Civic that I used for college. Beat to hell and held together by dirt and grime. Has only had one tune up and one water pump replaced in 180,000 miles. Yet super reliable and gets around 35-40 mpg.
My "second" or "weekend" car is the 06 Z. Quite happy with it, except for sliding in the rain and this whole oil consumption thing.
If I were you, since you have the G35 already (which is essentially a nicer 350Z), I'd get the S2000 to try something new. Hondas are fantastic cars....built to last a life time.

The Z and G don't feel the same at all, even though they share the same suspension components and motor. The only thing similar for me was the sound with the windows down. This is coming from driving the **** out of both cars.
With that said,
I'd get an S2000 just to be on the other end of the sportscar spectrum. The Z compromises with it's weight, unless you mod the thing. The s2000 is a spectacular little handler out of the box. If you want another car that compromises practicality, yet you can just enjoy....why not get a drop top S2000?

Since you only need two seats... instead of a new S2K, I'd get a used NSX. Just be sure to budget about $3-4K for a tune-up and timing belt swap if it has close to 60K miles on it. It's about $3-4K because the engine needs to be dropped out of the car. Once the timing belt is changed, it'll be good for another 60K trouble-free miles and you'll be driving one of the coolest cars ever to come out of Japan.

hi thanks for all the help so far! the 2nd car will be a 2nd car. not a weekend car or anything, i will drive this 2nd car just as much as my G35. Mainly i will be driving this 2nd car when i am by myself, most of the time.

I ended up going with 350z Roadster and a FX35, its the best of both worlds
For a second car I would go either more practical or more sporty, not sure I would get a 350z Coupe if I already owned a G35 Coupe.. The 350z is just a G35 Coupe minus the back seat and a stiffer ride... I would definatly test drive one a few times before buying something so similar... If you really want a Z you should try out the Roadster, its different enough to justify spending the money on it, IMO that is...

It sounds like you want to sell the G and get a Z, + buy a second car with back seat. Since you have the G for a year, it can cost more than you want to pay if selling it to get a Z.
So, if you just want a toy in addition to the G, given the situation, I would suggest the S2K. If money is not a big issue, sell the G, buy a Z or ZR, then get another practical car as the 2nd car.
