Default New guy here need some questions answered...thanks

I have an 06 z i shift at about 2000k rpm is this cool? Im a casual driver nothing fancy.

My breaking method involves braking on (x) gear it was in until im almost at a stop and poping it in neutral. Any thoughts?

Im having trouble shifting into those early gears 1 and 2. Its kinda choppy/jerky whatever you call it. Any suggestions/tips?

Also when is it necessary to downshift and whats a proper way of doing it?

my final thing is about reverse what do you guys do when going in reverse and prallalel parking and stuff.

thanks for you help guys. Sorry if i posted in wrong forum section.

2k shift is fine, i normally shift around 3k daily driving and trash the hell out of the gears on occasion.

for less jerk between 1st and 2nd try letting the clutch out a bit slower

your way of braking is fine, i normally downshift to make braking easier but its been long debated which is better for you car egine braking vs using only brakes

alot of people when downshift will rev match, basically tap the throttle in neutral to up the rpm's then enter your lower gear. This will do less wear on the syncro's

Basically just learn what speeds will put you at what rpm in each gear. Having this knowledge will help you know what gear to downshift to in order to get the most speed

Welcome.

Give yourself time to learn how to drive a manual transmission. This is not rocket science. When you have, say, 10,000 miles on the car, return and ask for comments. Until then have fun learning.

Well i pop in the clutch put it in reverse and release slowly. I push the gas a inty bit but it seems like the it goes too fast and if go to slowly it wants to stall. Kinda difficult specially in small parking zones.

Shifting a MT rev up @ 2K is rediculous. 4K is about right for normal driving except the 5th to 6th shift.

Based on the fact that the VQ has pretty good low end power, shifting around 2500-3000rpm should be fine for daily driving. Might help a bit with the jerking in the lower gears, too.

When in reverse, unless you are really flying in reverse, you really don't need to let the clutch out all the way, just let it out enough to get moving then push it back in.

Sounds like you just need practice in reverse. Let clutch out slowly with very little, if any, gas in tight situations.
