Aftermarket auto shifters
Anyone have any information on aftermarket shifters for the automatics. The one that is coming in the touring looks to bulky to me, doesn't flow with the overall design. I read that NIZMO was going to offer something, but haven't heard anything in a while. I appreciate any information you guys could share.

Are you looking for a shift **** or an actual shifter? If you're looking for a shift **** look at Momo, Razo, etc. Nopi has a decent selection of stuff like that. I don't know if anyone will offer an actual automatic shifter, but you may want to check with a company like B&M or Hurst. They are mostly known for their musclecar stuff but both companies have started venturing into the import business.
I faced the same problem with my auto 300ZX and the Levoc was the only one that I could find that would fit with the button for unlocking the shifter on the side. It actually ends up looking clunkier as it extends up higher than stock.
That is actually something I was curious about. The momo shifters I see online have the button on top, and I wonder about how you align that with the mechanism that allows you to actually shift gears. I would imagine it is a little more complicated than just unscrewing the **** (that doesnt sound right
) like with the manual trannies.

If you go to twinturbo.net and do a search on auto shifters I am sure you will find the same discussion there. I was seriously looking into swapping out with the stock shifter but kept finding that others couldn't get it done. I haven't seen a case where the button was relocated onto the top of the shift. Again, the aftermarket shift looks nicer but seems to stick up more like a sore thumb. There are some pics of it in ZX's on that website also.

The only challenge for most nissans is that for the autos, they require an O/D off button. I believe that the auto in the Z will not have that button, so getting a shifter to fit shouldn't be a problem. I installed a Levoc in my pathfinder, the only challenge was getting the old handle off because of the clip that attached the 2 wires for the O/D switch. The stock shifter has the side interlock release button, but the actual part from the shift mechanism is a button that gets pressed down from the top. The side button is just deisgned to push that down when it is pressed in. So the aftermarket ***** with buttons on top should work. The only thing to worry about is the height of the ****, to make sure it'll look like you want. Quality brands usually come with several spacers that go inside the **** to get the button at the proper height. They also have lower rubber pieces that you trim to fit that extend below the dust cover for a clean look. I know this was long winded, but it's the best I can come up with to give all the info.
