Default Offered a POLICE OFFICER my keys tonight...

Tonight after work, I meet up with some of the others from work at a Chilis Bar & Grill in Ft Worth. I park at the very back next to a median hoping to avoid having anyone park next to me. As I approach the front door, I asked the policeman standing outside the restaurant if he could do me a favor.

I ask him if he could just keep his eye on that orange car at the back of the parking lot because I had just gotten it and was a bit paranoid about someone messing with it. When he looked up to see which car I was talking about, his mouth opened up and eyes opened wide. Then the questions started, "is that that new car", "Ive never seen that color", "how fast does it go", "what does the base model cost", "can I look at it", etc. This guy was excited!

Being an officer of the law (its only the traffic cops I cant stand) I even offer him my keys and tell him that I trust him and that he could go check out the inside if he wished. He turned down my offer of the keys but asked again if I minded him going over to check it out. Of course not I say, go check it out. It was a really neat feeling knowing that my car would have its own personal body guard.

About an hour later as Im leaving, one of the waitresses is cleaning the windows of the front door. Without me saying a thing, she ask me "are you the one with the car out there", I respond "yes" and ask her how she knew it was mine. She said the officer had told her. As I walk to the back of the parking lot and drive off, I give one last look at the restaurant and there the waitress is standing against the door peering out.

Whats also funny is this, on the way out the door from work today I see one of my buddies and ask him if he's seen my new car yet. He said "no" but that he had heard about it. This is great, people I dont know are talking about the car! Also this past week Ive had people coming up to me at work (even some I dont know personally) tell me they had peered inside my windows and such. In a parking lot with probably over 300 vehicles, its nice to stand out. As far as I know, Im the first and only Z at corporate headquarters. And let me tell you, the Lemans Sunset is a looker! Cleaned and underneath the Texas sun, this baby is a a sparkling HOTTIE!

Good Move! Now if he ever sees you speeding, he'll probably cut you a lot of slack!

Sound's like you had a better experience than me. I walked out to my car in the parking lot after ordering a pizza and 2 cops were walking by saying how the 350 is too heavy for a v6 or some bs like that. I didn't say anything to them as I'm sure they felt odd talking down about my Z as I oppened it up and hopped in

I've had my Z barely over 24 hours so far and it's crazy the looks you get, the stares, the comments. I've had about 4 people roll down their windows and say "nice car" or ask me questions about it. I've seen probably a dozen obvious husbands or boyfriends driving cars and then grabbing their signifigant other and pointing at the car as to say, "look, that's that car I told you about!"

It's crazy the attention it gets, it's a lot of fun

Ahhh!! the new Z!! I was driving home from work today and this guy in a ML320 rolls down his windows at a redlight. Tells me my Z looks better then the new Porshe 911. I work in a wealthy area where many Bmws, Merchedes, luxury cars roam. My Z gets too much attention!

ya, I agree Its fun when you're sitting at a restaurant and you see people out of the window walk up to the car and look at the car and talk about it etc.. I too have had many people ask me about the car. At my school, my friends tell me that random people are talking about it in class, people that I don't even know.

I get the occasional dirty look, but for the most part girls and guys both dig the car.

One day I parked my car all the way back in the lot right next to my friends new corvette with the top down(yellow). I was sitting at an icecream place and this old lady and it seemed like her son walk up to my Z, completely ignore the corvette and drool over it. Pretty sweet
