grow up man. i'm 17 and i have my own Z. before anyone starts flaming, i'm paying for it myself.

regarding silly string, i'd be peeved too, but given the horror stories (ask race4it what happened to his at school) people on here have, it could be much much worse. i'd thank the Z gods the car could be washed back to perfection

I'm just being picky, so go on with your life.
Well... to me, 2 years ago seems like a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG time ago. I went from a kid that wear hoodies and baggy pants that are gonna fall off to a kid that now dresses like a gino, more well-dressed. It's two completely different lifestyle that I've changed from. But I guess our experiences are different.

It's cool, people are different. Just enjoy life and hope you don't die tomorrow. I think to many people take life for granted.

I bought my Z when I was 18. I pay 129 a month in insurance, and my car payments are $338 after $6,000 down.

It bothers when people assume my parents bought it for me, just because they have sucky dead end jobs and horrible money management skills.

Sorry I didn't have a cell phone until I was 18, never bought a music cd, never went to the movies unless it was something I'd been waiting for, eat expensively, or blow my money on trendy clothes. I bought gas with a credit card and my credit score was 730 by the time I turned 18.

That + 20+% down is more than enough to not need daddy.

6k is easy to save up if you have a goal, and are busy with highschool.

You're going to be bothered A LOT then. Of course people are going to think your parents bought you the car considering your age.

If you bought the car with out anyone's help then that's great. Who cares if people assume that you didn't buy it? It's just not many 16 year olds have a steady job to help them save/pay for something like the Z. It shouldn't bother you that people assume the obvious.

Just enjoy what you have period.

Just curious about a couple of things here.
How can you afford a Z on a 17 year olds salary, where do you work?
Who pays for your insurance, which I am sure is stupid expensive?
Also, keep in mind that you may be paying for your own Z but it's only possible because you have few if any major expenses. Example, rent/mortgage, bills, dependents etc.

Back on topic.......of course not all teenagers are punks, but compared to adults, the punk to non-punk percentage is much higher in the teen category

Just curious what you teens pay or what your parents pay to insure you?

I remember having a paid for 1982 Delta 88 DIESEL back in (1985, yeah I'm an old fart) and I thought paying $30-40 a month for liability out of my pocket was expensive, but then again, you guys probably don't pay a .10! Sorry, just hating!
I made my son buy all his cars and pay his insurance. After he realized his 240 was killing him in insurance he sold it and said he was buying a bike. Told him to check out the insurance before he did, he says he did, so ended up getting a 06 Honda 600 RR. $249 a month for liability only!

Getting to the OP, he has had it put in different gears, and has had it turned around. I feel sorry for the poor fool that gets caught doing it. Silly string? Stay away from parties.

-got lucky to get a job being the IT guy for a law firm nearby, it pays well.

-i pay for the insurance and off the top of my head i believe it's 550 every 6 months. when you're under 18, DMV wont register it in your name, so the insurance is low because i'm one of two drivers listed on the car.

-yes i know, which is why i'm glad i'm buying it now, and then i'll have a nice car paid off when i wouldn't be able to afford it otherwise.

17 years old, no degree or certification, and you are "the" IT guy. Yes, that is very, very lucky.
Just curious, what do your responsibsilities include being the main IT person at this law firm?

aye. *flame suit on*

exchange server, terminal server, file server, ~25 people who somehow manage to make something malfunction, a handful of sql dbs, a copy room full of computers disguised as copy machines, odd jobs relating to court cases (sifting through harddrives, etc). there's more but thats the gist of it.
