Yeah. I am not feeling that hood at the moment. Glad I got the 06. Now I can pay it off and buy a Supra. Looks like Nissan is struggling to get much more out of this car.

Not a lot to talk about. HP is very unimpressive with all the talk of this new great engine. Torque is a little more impressive, but underwhelming to me.

mc350Z - you may want to add the options to your sticky. I added the options on my original post earlier today.

So that means it really only has 6 more hp and 8 more lb/tq than the 06. Ok, I'm happy again haha! Glad I didn’t wait for the 07.

...but that twin intake does sound kinda kool, but not worth the wait.
Wow! Even less impressive. Let me see if I have this right. The engine gods will correct me if I have gone off target. The current M/T gets the max HP @ 6400rpm, 600 rpm from redline. From reading all the posts, it seems that the 07 will have a redline of 7500. That means that you get the max HP at redline and then immediately after that the fuel starts getting caught off. If that is true, this would be a complete waste. Unless redline is 8000 rpm.

Default Weight loss is out of the question

Don't ever look for a weight reduction. The reason the Z can be built and sold as a $30-40k car is because of the cost reduction inherent in platform sharing. This car uses the same platform needed to support and drive the much larger Murano and Infiniti FX35&45. If you want Corvette-like weight, you will have Corvette-like cost.

The 2007 hood really looks like an after thought regarding looks. I hope they raised it up for some kind of performance reason (maybe taller stock plenum).

I heard the new G has lower gearing and that was one reason for the bump in 0-60 performance. Rumor mill, I know...

Yeah, That Hood's kind of a turn off. Although I like it better than the Stillen hood. I think I'd be cool to use that hood with a stillen S/C on an older z. At least it's have the ***** to back it up! (street performance of course, not 1/4 mile)

Damn, so much information ALREADY posted and people are still asking... even people who have posted in the other thread...

How is the new Z less impressive? Some of you are peak number ******. Have any of you actually read up on the differences in the engine? If not, here... www.vq35hr.com. This car is gonna be ready for some FI.

Stop posting up the same dumb-*** questions/comments that have been answered 80 quatrillion times.

It's a crying shame the direction Nissan is taking the Z... touchscreen nav, heated leather seats, no Track (as of now) etc. It's supposed to be a damn sports car, not a ****ing luxury whatever. For the REAL enthusiasts, they should at LEAST give Brembos as an option on the Base/Enthusiast models, since anything after that is adding unnecessary weight, which we (at least I) DO NOT WANT.

The new engine is rated under the new SAE standard though. The old motor under the new standard is something like 290hp.

No rumor. It has a 3.69 final drive.

If the 350z were an animal, the 03-06 hood would be fangs, and the 07 hood would be a tumor or other weird growth.

Did their design people even think about talking to marketing and maybe have a focus group or two regarding this?

^ Yup, and the '03-'06 VQ35DE would be a *****, and the '07 VQ35HR would be the dick beating the **** out of it. J/K... but we'll see when it comes out.

What would you rather have... a halfway-decent looking hood and a better performing engine, or a less performing engine with a better looking hood?

For those that don't like the hood, get a black one. Black is good at hiding "lines" and will certainly soften the "hunch-back" appearence.
Although the hump is growing on me. Gives it a beefier and more aggresive appearence. Definitely sends out the signal that its got some nutz under the hood!

I wonder if you could take a stock 2007 Hood and put it on a 2006 or below car and fit the Stillen SC kit?

those complaining about the minimal power gains really need to wait to drive one. or at least go to your local Infiniti dealer and drive the new G35 sedan with this motor.

i didn't drive it, but started one up and it revs to 7500 like a freakin honda. it was beautiful. the dealer, who's a young guy...an enthusiast and not your run of the mill salesman, said the torque curve feels almost completely flat from a little under 3k rpm. now THAT sounds NICE.

this weekend i'm going to try to get over there and test drive it...supposedly it's the only 6mt in TX.

The Key fob and curb weight 07.
oh and!! start engine button
Hell, even altima is getting the start button too right??

I'M CURIOUS
